played this as part of links golf cup event, so played both courses. We did this one on first day.
whole estate is tremendous, double ended driving range with nike balls. Three different sized short game areas and greens. There is even a Himalayan style green next to first tee.
Clubhouse is old fashioned styled with massive locker room.
You can leave your clubs overnight if playing following day.
The course- set up links style, though never see the sea really. other than all the gorse bushes, and there are lots, it feels more parkland in terms of fairways and greens.
It is lovely shaped course but I feel it is let down by the greenkeeping. Lots of bare mud areas on fairway and around greens, almost forced to putt every time from off green.
Greens were really slow, this may be down to start of season but I would expect better for the money.
It worked out at £90 for each course for us due to the competition and I would say this is the max I would pay to play here and this is just because of the quality of practice facilities.

For me this is a tough course to review. As a facility this place is second to none, practice grounds for long game, short and putting which are first class and the provision of a pyramid of Nike balls makes it all feel very special. Clubhouse and changing facilities are once again superb.

The course is a real test of golf and made even more so when the winds picks up as it did during our round. Accuracy from the tee is paramount as the faiways are lined with tall heavy gorse.

Its a real good mix of holes with great design, thought is needed on all shots.

The disappointment for me is the greens, visual they seemed ok but played pretty poor, pace was slow and lots of bumps on the roll, whilst its only April a venue of this quality and price must provide better greens than this.

The Dirleton is the more links-like course of the 2 on offer at Archerfield. The venue is top quality with a corresponding price tag. Practice facilities are great, a full range with complimentary Nike balls along with separate pitching, chipping and putting greens mean you have no excuses for arriving at the 1st tee cold. I played this course in a strong wind and it showed it's no pushover. The fairways were firm and running whilst the greens were a little slower than they looked which wasn't a bad thing given the wind. There are a good selection of 3s, 4s and 5s with some vicious run off areas that punish you if you're not pinpoint accurate. Whilst the first 9 are quite exposed the second 9 change character a little as the gourse is used the shape the holes and punish anything offline. Typical deep bunkering makes sure a bunker is a penalty. Tough but enjoyable

Had the pleasure of playing here a few times over the past few years and whilst I have always enjoyed the courses the greens have been indifferent until this year that is, massive improvements and continues to develop as a major player in this fantastic region.

Played here a few times over the past few years and have to say this is the best condition I have found the course in.

Greens were superb and ultra quick, do not miss on the wrong side as an up and down came be treacherous

The fee may be high but you get a first class experience and one you will not forget in a hurry.

Great facilities (club house, driving range, short game and putting ), and all you'd expect from a course that has been home to some pro tournaments.
Although the course (Fidra ) I played is right on the coast, virtually next door to Muirfield, it's not really a traditional Scottish links. Starting with a couple of holes framed and defined by tall pines, later opening up a bit more.
Some long par 4s of the black tees but a fair challenge for most handicap levels. Liked the 14th and the par 5 finishing hole.

Archerfield is a good course but not a great one. The layout is good, as is the quality of the greens, but one can't help get the feel that this is a new course not yet fully established. The fairway turf is thin and does not have the feel of a traditional links.I reckon the price is based on the establishment's exclusivity factor.Fortunately, I was a guest and did not pay, but there are better links to play in this area at a fraction of the quoted price for Archerfield.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of your guys when playing this wonderful course yesterday. I hope I look good on the video you were shooting!

I have been fortunate to play many golf courses across the world and Archerfield is without doubt a world class venue. Both courses offer a fantastic challenge and each has a unique identity.

I would find it difficult to choose a favourite. The Dirleton was in fantastic condition and I was warned pre round that the greens had been top dressed, no need, they were quick and true.

The golf course is a great design and hard to believe it is so young(only 8 years old, I think!)

The facilities and welcome are what set this course apart, it is 5 star all the way. You are made to feel very special and a professional for the day. It is a lot of money for a game of golf but you get far more than just the golf.
