Located in a mature part of the Leverhulme Estate at the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, Bromborough is renowned as a hidden gem of a Golf Course; "Wirral's Parkland Jewel". For over 100 years golfers have been tackling the distinctive 18 holes that play between 6300 and 6600 yards depending on the tees used. Its quality can be evidenced by its selection to host the English Amateur Matchplay Championship in 2005, English Men's Seniors Championship 2003 and the Cheshire Matchplay in 2010.

Cracking weather for what turned out to be a very well played round of golf. The course was in superb condition with the greens running true, they were looking particularly good at present. Fantastic course with great facilities and excellent hospitality.

Arrived at 10am and was disappointed that there was no service for food. There was just coffee machine. That said the course was a pleasure to play. Good mix of holes and challenges throughout. The greens were in excellent condition. The local membership were not too friendly which is a shame because they have an excellent course to play.

Played here as part of bunkers golf society.

This is my 3rd visit here so i know the kind of condition the course would be in and it did t disappoint the greens again were in very good condition and a putt putt on line has every chance of going in.

This is a good test of golf for all abilities and not just a bombers golf course, it requires you to plot your way round and try to attack when in premium position.

My only gripe on this occasion was the scruffy areas around the greens, i dont know if they are the result of last years summer but on 3 occasions my ball came to rest just off the green in a mud patch that was dry, the only option being to play the shot like a bunker one. This could of just been marked as GUR but for some reason it wasnt.

Would 100% recommend this course and will be visiting again.

A lovely course that keeps your attention throughout. Some holes are quite narrow and long and reward the sensible golfers amongst us. The greens are in very good condition and quite receptive. Club shop is well stocked and the clubhouse is nice. Worth a round if your in the area

    Bunkers Golf Society Visit

    Average rating

    8.8

24th June, 2019, by Bunkers Golf Society

We took the society back to Bromborough Golf Club for what is becoming an annual tradition. The course always reviews well by our members and scores highly in our end of season AGM and therefore is somewhere we would consider a Bunkers favourite.

For this visit club Professional Geoff Berry recommended that we visit in late June [as opposed to our normal May slot] as the course would be in its prime - and he was absolutely right. Bromborough is a parkland jewel and is always superbly presented whenever we visit, but this was a touch better once again and it was nice to see some improvements and additions over last years visit - showing the club invest and take great pride in the course [as well they should]

The greens were once again in immaculate condition and played well. Receptive yet slick and quick and with the usual subtle undulations that make them challenging to read - they really are a good test of your ability with the 'flat stick'.

The tree lined fairways demand accuracy and good course management and anything wayward sees you taking a shot sideways to get back into the hole.

Despite being a traditional parkland course, it does have plenty of undulations - which although don't make it a tough walk, do make you think about shot selection as you are tested against a number of different lies and therefore its a real test of your golfing ability and shot making skills.
Bromborough is a great course for all levels of golfer and there is something here for everyone.

On this occasion we paid for 'golf only' but a few of the lads ordered food afterwards and the plates were plentiful and tasty as well as fairly priced. The days golf cost us £35 for mid morning tee times on a Sunday - which is fairly priced and comparative with other courses in the area for this quality.

Bunkers have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Bromborough Golf Club to anyone. Its a visit you won't regret.

I visited again with Bunkers Golf Society on 23rd June 2019 and I play off 9hcp.

Bromborough GC is always a pleasure to visit. A warm welcome is always afforded and the course is a real treat. Despite being a parkland track, it has a fair bit of undulation, which makes shot and club selection paramount and tests all aspects of your game.

The greens were superb and were quick but true. The course was in great condition and presented beautifully. The bunkers and tee boxes were all good and the course played tricky for this visit due to a stern breeze that came and went through the afternoon.

We paid £35 for golf only, which is fair value without being exceptional but we were afforded 10:45am tee times on a Sunday - which is a great bonus.

Bromborough is always a club I recommend to friends and other golfers and will continue to be somewhere I look forward to visiting.

This was my first visit to Bromborough and I was very impressed!
Arriving early (09:00hrs) with friends from Bunkers Golf Society I was a little disappointed that there was no breakfast/bacon rolls available for purchase in the clubhouse and only coffee from the machine.
This though, was just about my only disappointment of the day. The course was interesting, combining relatively short par 4s with several more challenging par 4s. The terrain was certainly undulating as is described on the club’s excellent website.
The standout feature of the course for me, must be the speed and quality of the USGA standard greens. They were fast and true and the sharply cut hole locations made it imperative that putts were struck in the very centre of each cup.
The comfortable clubhouse offered a variety of good lagers and ales and a decent menu was available at reasonable cost for those who required food.
The condition of the bunkers was inconsistent - and I visited many - but members did explain that there is a programme to improve the situation which is already underway.
I would definitely recommend a visit to this club and course and will certainly be back myself.

Played on 23 June 19 with the Bunkers GS.

It was my second visit to Bromborough GC. The course played really well, an interesting track. You won`t need your driver as you may on other courses in the area, although you will need to keep it straight as the tree lined fairways will certainly concentrate the mind. The greens were in very good condition - I dropped the score for the course to an "8" as the quality of the sand in the bunkers varied considerably from bunker to bunker and was commented on by others in my group - from fine deep sand in some, to what looked like dry soil in others.

To end on a positive note - as that`s what this superb course deserves. We played in the first group (a 3 ball) behind several 4 balls and still went around in 3 hours 50 mins which was superb for a mid morning Sunday round. Big thank you to the staff for their warm welcome. See you next year.

Played at Bromborough with Bunkers GS for about the fourth year now. There is a reason why we keep coming back to this interesting parkland course. Every hole has its own little challenge whether that be OB, water hazard, trees or very well placed bunkers.

The fairways were lovely and spongey but firm despite all the rain and the greens were receptive and lovely to putt on. Be aware that some of the slopes are steeper than you may first think.

The clubhouse has several areas, great for larger groups and the staff were friendly.

I like it here a lot and highly recommend a visit.

I played here with Bunkers Golf Society.

This is a mature, tree lined course in very nice condition. A nice variety of holes make up this course, it’s not just a case of damaging the driver although some holes do call for it.

The greens run smooth and true.

    Well worth a visit.

    I play off 18.

Our annual visit with BGS was on 6th May. Again we had perfect weather, very hot and sunny great conditions for golf.

this is a very challenging course and you will be punished if you are off the fairways. hazards are in the right positions and the bunkers had enough sand in them if you find yourself in one of them.

some great holes on this course and i enjoyed the round.

unfortuantely the greens have suffered the most with this run of bad weather. A lot slower than expected for this time of year. This was explained when i booked in with the pro shop. Very helpful and full of information about the course and was very complimentary about our society.

I will continue to play this course and would recommend to all.

Decent lay out and must stick to the fairway to score well as the rough is very punishing at times. Greens were very slow and needed cutting, but that could be said for a number of courses at the minute due to the weather. If wearing shorts....make sure you bring white socks!

Never played before but really enjoyed the round. Greens were not the best (but see a lot worse) but I would blame that on the recent weather and time of year. IN NEED OF A GOOD CUT. A number of interesting holes and the majority of bunkers on each hole are strategically placed. Will be playing here again in the summer.

The course is a favourite of mine and despite being a bit behind its usual condition for this time of year due to the horrendous UK winter, it still presented beautifully. The greens were a bit below the usual high standard but the Pro explained the reasons for this and I accept that everywhere has struggled this year so far.

It offers great value and is a really good test of ability. Its a course I would recommend to others and is good value. Give it a go.

We returned once again with the society to Bromborough Golf Club on a beautiful sunny day on May 6th 2018.

As always the course looked in great condition with the usual emerald green fairways and manicured fairways and greens. By the clubs own self admission [and totally understandably for most courses at the moment] they were about 4 weeks behind where they would expect to be at this time of year due to the horrific winter we have suffered in the UK. Therefore, this review can only be based honestly on how we found the course on this particular visit and not on the basis of previous visits.

The welcome [as ever] was warm and all the staff were very pleasant and courteous. The food and drink in the clubhouse was good and offered sound value and the days play for golf only was £30 per person for a Sunday mid morning, which offers great value.

The fairways were nice, with well cut grass and nicely mown and they were as easy on the eye as they were to play off. However the rough was super penal as it was quite long and sticky after the wet weather we had experienced and looked to have been cut in the days previous. There were grass cuttings all over the rough which meant a lot of searching when a ball left the fairway and we understand that this is probably because it has been unable to be cut much due to the terrible weather and so it has kind of reached a point where they'd taken advantage during a rare sunny spell and the grass was still wet and this meant it left behind sticky rough that was a real chore to play from.

The bunkers were raked but quite compacted sand and were difficult [at times] to play from - but again, we can understand the reasons for this.

The greens looked beautiful and were well cared for and had clearly been subjected to some hard work following the winter. However, they were a bit bobbly in parts and multi paced - which made them hard to get accustomed to during the round. Again, totally understandable given the shocking winter in this part of the world [sadly we are used to it]

The course itself was in great condition and it was good to see work and development going on to improve this still. Its a beautiful parkland layout and is a true test of golf with various slopes giving differing lies and testing your golfing ability.

In summary, Bromborogh Golf Club is firmly a favourite with our members - despite the condition on this visit being a little below what we have seen in recent years. However, this will not put us off revisiting in future years and plenty of our members will no doubt play again in 2018 with their friends and family. Definitely a club that is worth of your money.

Well what was on course to be a wet afternoon most of the society lads turned up in shorts not worrying about the storm that was due in. With that said the weather stayed sunny and shorts was the obvious choice.
After turning up late i was handed the final 4 ball of the day. The course was in tip top shape and the greens was also in great shape. With the course open on most holes it was great to see some of the big hitters going for it off the tee.

Also would like to thank the staff who was excellent on the day, and we will be going back there in the future.
