Located in a mature part of the Leverhulme Estate at the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, Bromborough is renowned as a hidden gem of a Golf Course; "Wirral's Parkland Jewel". For over 100 years golfers have been tackling the distinctive 18 holes that play between 6300 and 6600 yards depending on the tees used. Its quality can be evidenced by its selection to host the English Amateur Matchplay Championship in 2005, English Men's Seniors Championship 2003 and the Cheshire Matchplay in 2010.

This is a lovely course some nice challenging holes and kept in great condition. Considering the harsh winter the fairways and greens are well kept all be it the greens were a little slow on the day. All in all strongly recommend playing this course made to feel very welcome

    I play off 18.

Our annual visit with BGS was on 6th May. Again we had perfect weather, very hot and sunny great conditions for golf.

this is a very challenging course and you will be punished if you are off the fairways. hazards are in the right positions and the bunkers had enough sand in them if you find yourself in one of them.

some great holes on this course and i enjoyed the round.

unfortuantely the greens have suffered the most with this run of bad weather. A lot slower than expected for this time of year. This was explained when i booked in with the pro shop. Very helpful and full of information about the course and was very complimentary about our society.

I will continue to play this course and would recommend to all.

Decent lay out and must stick to the fairway to score well as the rough is very punishing at times. Greens were very slow and needed cutting, but that could be said for a number of courses at the minute due to the weather. If wearing shorts....make sure you bring white socks!

Never played before but really enjoyed the round. Greens were not the best (but see a lot worse) but I would blame that on the recent weather and time of year. IN NEED OF A GOOD CUT. A number of interesting holes and the majority of bunkers on each hole are strategically placed. Will be playing here again in the summer.

Played as part of Bunkers Golf Society on 6th May 2018.

The course is a favourite of mine and despite being a bit behind its usual condition for this time of year due to the horrendous UK winter, it still presented beautifully. The greens were a bit below the usual high standard but the Pro explained the reasons for this and I accept that everywhere has struggled this year so far.

It offers great value and is a really good test of ability. Its a course I would recommend to others and is good value. Give it a go.

A lovely looking course that is a real test for all players. The holes are beautifully framed by well seasoned trees and the fairways are well tended to. Given the bad conditions we’ve had I’d say the course was in very good condition.

We returned once again with the society to Bromborough Golf Club on a beautiful sunny day on May 6th 2018.

As always the course looked in great condition with the usual emerald green fairways and manicured fairways and greens. By the clubs own self admission [and totally understandably for most courses at the moment] they were about 4 weeks behind where they would expect to be at this time of year due to the horrific winter we have suffered in the UK. Therefore, this review can only be based honestly on how we found the course on this particular visit and not on the basis of previous visits.

The welcome [as ever] was warm and all the staff were very pleasant and courteous. The food and drink in the clubhouse was good and offered sound value and the days play for golf only was £30 per person for a Sunday mid morning, which offers great value.

The fairways were nice, with well cut grass and nicely mown and they were as easy on the eye as they were to play off. However the rough was super penal as it was quite long and sticky after the wet weather we had experienced and looked to have been cut in the days previous. There were grass cuttings all over the rough which meant a lot of searching when a ball left the fairway and we understand that this is probably because it has been unable to be cut much due to the terrible weather and so it has kind of reached a point where they'd taken advantage during a rare sunny spell and the grass was still wet and this meant it left behind sticky rough that was a real chore to play from.

The bunkers were raked but quite compacted sand and were difficult [at times] to play from - but again, we can understand the reasons for this.

The greens looked beautiful and were well cared for and had clearly been subjected to some hard work following the winter. However, they were a bit bobbly in parts and multi paced - which made them hard to get accustomed to during the round. Again, totally understandable given the shocking winter in this part of the world [sadly we are used to it]

The course itself was in great condition and it was good to see work and development going on to improve this still. Its a beautiful parkland layout and is a true test of golf with various slopes giving differing lies and testing your golfing ability.

In summary, Bromborogh Golf Club is firmly a favourite with our members - despite the condition on this visit being a little below what we have seen in recent years. However, this will not put us off revisiting in future years and plenty of our members will no doubt play again in 2018 with their friends and family. Definitely a club that is worth of your money.

Well what was on course to be a wet afternoon most of the society lads turned up in shorts not worrying about the storm that was due in. With that said the weather stayed sunny and shorts was the obvious choice.
After turning up late i was handed the final 4 ball of the day. The course was in tip top shape and the greens was also in great shape. With the course open on most holes it was great to see some of the big hitters going for it off the tee.

Also would like to thank the staff who was excellent on the day, and we will be going back there in the future.

Our 3rd society day of the calendar brought us to Bromborough which is a well maintained wirral gem.
As usual we got a warm welcome from club members and staff. The weather played its part also with a warm day for all. The course isn't the longest but is a fair challenge. Sloping fairways and greens with plenty of trees make straight shots a must. The greens in great condition for the time of year.
All in all a great day out and we will be back soon.

Played the course on Sunday with Bunkers Golf Society & really enjoyed the experience.
Pre game practice started with a bit of a queue for the 2 practice nets however the course was trying to facilitate a 20+ group which is not the norm although I do think a short game warm up area would also be an improvement to current facilities. That said the practice green was a good size.
The course was in great condition & offered up a good variety of holes of different character. Greens were good & the bar terrace / food area at the clubhouse was excellent. All in all Bromborough is well worth a visit & I hope the society visit again next year.

Played here as part of Bunkers golf society.

Having played this course last year i was looking forward to it again, it did not dissapoint. The coure was in imaculate condion for the time of year, the greens were very quick and true. The fairways and pretty much whole course was bone dry!
Its quite a deceivingly tight course were position play is paramount and combine that when the wind gets up it makes for a very challanging round.
One thing i must say is the bunkers were not of the best quality, they were very firm and compact and could have done with more sand in and less stones, one of the guys in my group actually damaged his sw in one of them as the was a massive stone under his ball.
Really look forward to the next visit and would definitely recommend playing here.

Great course layout with wide variety of holes. Greens running true for putting but very hard to come into, a bit of water to make more receptive would be better. A club member playing of 1 had same thoughts.

Bunkers short of sand and quite a few stones. A short game warm up chipping area close to the club house would be great.

All that said, still a great course and one I would recommended and come back to.

Post round food and bar staff excellent.

I played here as part of Bunkers Golf societies visit.

This is a lovely, mature parkland golf course in excellent condition with well defined fairways and smooth, true rolling greens.

There is plenty of variety in the holes on this course and club selection is paramount.

The members I encountered during our visit were, without exception, very friendly and welcoming.

If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend you visit this club.

What a course! Greens were immaculate and, although rapid, were true and fair. Don't leave yourself short sided though because you'll struggle to keep your ball on the green. Fairways were excellent and the general layout is a true joy to behold. If you get chance then it's a must!

I played at Bromborough GC with Bunkers Golf Society on 7th May 2017 and my handicap at the time is 11.

I have played Bromborough 2/3 times previously and have always enjoyed the challenge. Its a tricky course that has a testing layout and some difficult long holes - particularly if there's a decent breeze, as there was for our visit this time around.

The course has some moderate undulation, but nothing too strenuous and there are some beautifully crafted holes here with the standouts for me being the par 3 6th hole, the tricky double hazard on the 9th hole and possibly one of the trickiest 18th's you're likely to find.

The condition of the course for our visit was superb, with well manicured fairways that were striped and rolled to give a lovely appearance and the tee boxes were all flat and well maintained.
The greens were very quick and a fraction uneven paced in parts with some being a little slower than others - which, when the pace is quick, is difficult to adjust to. But they are much better than most in the area for this time of year. They were also bone dry due to the recent spell of good, warm weather we have had - and the driest April on record since the mid 90's [I believe].

I didn't struggle with the Bunkers, but I know some in our society did and they were a little understocked and firm in some but nothing that would cause me upset.

The price was competitive for 10:30am Sunday tee times and the staff were always welcoming and pleasant. The prices in the bar were very good and the post round snacks were filling and well priced.

All in all, Bromborough is a club that I enjoy visiting and is one that I continue to recommend to people. If you're looking for a parkland course in the Wirral that offers quality, price and friendliness - this has to be your choice.

Bromborough golf course was in fantastic condition the fairways are very well maintained as are the greens. They we're very quick and rolled true. Only negative from playing the course was that some of the green side bunkers had very little sand in making it very difficult to get underneath the ball and play a regular bunker shot. Don't let that little detail put you off playing this great golf course as I'm sure it's something they'll rectify in the future. All in all another great day in the sun for the bunkers golf society.

Played Bromborough Sunday 9th April. Course had all been cut and was in good nick. There were still preferred lies on the fairways and short grass whilst the approach to most greens were roped off to keep trollies away. The tees were proper grass and level. The greens had been top dressed but were well matted in and gave a decent roll on putts. This is a lovely course and will be brilliant in the Summer once the greens recover and roped off areas are removed.
