Cambridge Meridian Golf Club straddles the Meridian Line just one of ten courses worldwide to do so. Hence the name. Golfers cross the Meridian Line seven times during the round. The course sits majestically in a 210 acre site between the villages of Comberton and Toft, just 5 miles west of Cambridge.

It was designed by Ryder Cup players Peter Alliss and Clive Clark and is generally acclaimed as their top UK course design. At 6,700 yards, with a par of 73, strategic water hazards and challenging greens it is a stern test for professionals.

On my latest and fourth visit to play Cambridge Meridian, I once again went down there on my own and met another member ; who I have never met before) and we had a great 18 holes on a lovely Sunday evening. The course was in the best condition I have played it. Both the tees and greens were in immaculate condition, the greens in particular were really soft and even though the course hasn't seen much rain at all this summer, I can see how hard the grounds men must work to keep the course in tip top condition. As before, Steve the barman was cheery and chatty and the restaurant was nice and busy with many members and families enjoying the Sunday carvery. The members I have met and all the staff are really down to earth and sociable, so I've decided to join the club under their points2play system which is great for returning golfers such as me.

I'm not a member of Cambridge Meridian club, but on returning to playing golf this course is great as it charges just £14 on a Monday. Once again I turned up on my own and 2 other members let me tag along with them. Thanks Kevin and Graham. Playing a course in March usually means winter tees and greens - not this one. It's great to be able to play in the winter on a well draining course on normal tees and greens. It's a challenging course which is pretty long even from the yellow tees, there are also plenty of well placed bunkers and the local brook comes into play in loads of different holes plus a few lakes here and there for good measure. What I like best about this club are the great facilities, friendly and helpful staff, good food and green keepers which give the course every chance to be played even in the worst of the winter. Can't fault it and definitely a course to visit any day of the week.

Returned here for a round on Monday 21st December. This course does a Monday special rate of just £14 a round. Fantastic value for such a good course. The tees and greens were immaculate. Given all the rain in the last few weeks the course played long. Really sociable clubhouse and members. As a single player, 3 club members allowed me to join them which was a nice touch. Great facilities with an improved driving range and a superb practice green. I would definitely consider joining this club and they even have a points to play system for those who cannot justify a full 5 or 7 day membership. Great idea to get more people playing.

Visited with a couple of friends for our first round at Cambridge Meridian course. Was in great condition considering really heavy rain the day before and 3 days prior. Some bunkers in the lower parts of the course were still full of water but that was understandable. The course is really challenging with loads of well placed bunkers, plenty of use of the local brook and ditches in many holes and a variety of straight and dog leg holes made it really interesting. Nice changing facilities, friendly club pro, attentive bar and restaurant staff and a quick lunch was very appreciated. Best of all the round was just £14 for a Monday. Great idea to get people playing on one of the quietest midweek days to play. Will definitely return again. Highly recommended friendly and a club me and my friends were very impressed with.
