Played in April, after a heavy winter course was in great condition.

17th hole is a must go for free off the tee if you have the carry.

Facilities and hospitality are all fantastic also.

The Nicklaus Course is a reasonable test from the yellow tees but a monster from the back tees. Unless you are a very low handicapper, play from the yellows. There is space to spray the ball a bit so the course is not too punishing.

A very good set up at Carden Park with the choice of 2 courses, I think that the Cheshire course is probably the better of the 2 nowadays.

The course was in reasonable condition although the tee boxes were a little hammered, the overall course condition was a little scruffy in places but overall was in reasonable condition for £25 a round. Did ask for a buggy and was quoted £35 which I thought was a bit steep.

Typical corporate venue in that the welcome was a 'couldnt care less' kind of response which is a shame.

Hotel and clubhouse are magnificent, course needs a little more love and care.

Played here as part of Bunker Society day recently. On arrival at the clubhouse we were greeted by superb bacon sandwiches and much needed coffee. They were the highlight of my day unfortunately as I had a stinker on the course but from the 1st to the last putt on the 18th I thoroughly enjoyed the course itself.

It's beautifully laid out, the greens are immaculate and it proves a real challenge to any handicap golfer. Unfortunately for me it wasn't to be one of my greatest days but nevertheless, the course itself and the great weather we had really made the day.

On return to the clubhouse we had a meal booked and this again was enjoyable. Gammon and chips, you can't go wrong but it was cooked well, timed to perfection and the service was excellent.

All in all, I would definitely play here again and I would recommend to any golfer or society looking for a venue.

Played in July 2015 with bunkers golf society.
Booked 22 lads in at the club shop, very friendly and offered advice on nearest pins and longest drives providing markers if needed.
Food, pre round bacon butties came in abundance and very tasty post round gammon egg and chips couldn't fault it. Mark very accommodating if any fussy eaters and provided our own space with presentation table ready and set out !
The course offered a great thinking game. Shame I'm not a good thinker !!!
Tee box in good condition, fairways presented superbly and very pleasing on the eye. Greens I felt where one of best I've played this season true and flat. Divot marks frustrating but are the fault of the lazy inconsiderate golfer's not the course.
Great par 3 8th due to its tricky pin position (B) this typified the course Risk & Reward.
Good practise facilities and a clubhouse and changing facility to match any. A definite course on next years calendar.

Played here with bunkers golf society on 12/7/15.
I have had the chance to play this course a few times and every time i am not disappointed it is always presented to a high standard with tee boxes well maintained fairways in stunning condition and greens that run fast and true. Only one criticism of the greens which is no fault of the course is the amount of pitch marks left on greens,i was in the first group out and the amount that was left on each green unrepaired was well just lazy.
This course is a true risk reward with quite a few holes offering quicker ways to greens but at high risk.
A great days golf and hopefully one we return to

I visited with Bunkers Golf Society on 12th July 2015. Having played the Cheshire Course over the last couple of years with the society, I was looking forward with interest to testing myself on the Nicklaus Course.

Normally with hotel resorts, you have one standout course and one acceptable course. Carden Park actually have two supreme tracks that both offer a superb test of golf.

I rate the final 6 holes on the Cheshire as some of the best I have played, but there are some sublime 'thinking holes' on the Nicklaus that make it a true test for any golfer.

The course was in sublime condition with well manicured fairways that were well defined and rightly punishing rough. The greens were slick and true for the most part with a couple being a bit patchy [couldn't work out if it was due to scorching from hot weather or poor growth] but it didn't impact too much on the round as the holes had been cut away from the worst parts.

The tee boxes were a fine and the presentation of the course was excellent throughout.

My only criticisms were:

1 - The inconsistency of the sand in the bunkers. Some were lush and fluffy and some were hard and bare. This made it hard to master them as you were playing from varying styles - on several occasions the changes could be seen within a single bunker.

2 - The amount of unprepared pitch marks on greens. This isn't the courses fault, and is always more noticeable at larger, hotel style resorts - mainly due to the clientele they seem to attract. But it was a noticeable issue through the day and I was repairing 3 or 4 per green minimum.

The set up, facilities and quality of venue are unquestioned and the quality of food was superb.
Special mention must go to the level of service provided by all the staff I encountered who were friendly and very courteous.

All in all, Carden Park is a superb resort and one worth of a visit from any keen golfer.

Quick note about the hospitality first. Being a hotel I don't expect them to go that extra mile but these guys did. Friendly, polite and helpful staff serving decent food. Really impressed.

The course is lovely with a good mix of holes. Not many are obvious driver and it pays to weigh up your options given the hazard placement.

Tees were ok, not the best but flat and firm. Fairways had that summer crispness beginning but they were very well maintained with a lack of unreplaced divots.

Greens were lovely rolling very true. Some tough pins for us too.

Only critique is that there is only one cut of rough, beyond which the ball is dead or lost. This isn't conducive to a fast pace of play but even so our four ball went round in 4h30. Not bad on a Sunday.

Loved the day and hopefully one we will return to.

What a wonderful day! Warm welcome...hearty breakfast...magnificent (Nicklaus) course in excellent condition...substantial, tasty post-round meal served by friendly courteous catering staff....why more could the society golfer want?
This is definitely a venue for a great golfing day out with pals.

I visited this course with Bunkers Golf Society on 12/7/15.

After being served a plentiful buffet on bacon sandwiches, we ventured out to the Nicklaus course after previous visits to the Cheshire course.
I found the course to be a really interesting course where club selection and good course management is absolutely essential, The greens are superbly protected by a large amount of bunkers meaning approach shots had to be flown all the way.
The fairways also have hazards brilliantly placed waiting to punish you if you choose the wrong club.
The greens didn't look pristine but offered a true roll which is the most important thing.
A few par 4's are reachable for big hitters if you are brave enough to take them on though a watery grave awaits if you get it wrong. It really did make for an interesting round of golf.

If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit.

Played the Nicklaus course today with Bunkers Golf Society, I have played the course a few times and it always lives up to a high standard. Some of the tee boxes and fairway approaches leave you wondering which route and club to go with which is one of the best attributes of the course. The food before and after was good and the staff were very friendly. We will hopefully be back again next year.

Cold winters morning. 8:30am tee. heavy rain the day before. expected a very soggy and muddy day. BUT... was very satisfied with how well drained the course was, all fairways playing well underfoot, all greens soft but didn't reflect the amount of rain we had, so was very impressed. well maintained course and a great layout that was challenging but very fair. I have scored the course high due to how impressed i was with how it coped with the previous days conditions during a fast approaching winter and for £21 each for a course of this quality it amazing.
