Relatively new course in East Lothian and shaping up quite nicely, greens are good layout needs to develop a little in the years ahead but in most areas of he country this would be a 'really good' golf course, however due to its location and stiff competition it is at the lower end but still a great option.

Played here in March 2016 on a reasonable Sunday afternoon.

Prior to visiting, I hadn't realised that Craigielaw is a 'new-build' links course, and as such it doesn't quite have the charm and feel of many of its near neighbours on the East Lothian Golf Coast. Indeed the large modern clubhouse, guest rooms and very large houses on the par-3 10th all have more of a resort feel to them.

That said, the course itself is OK without ever setting the pulse racing. There are no real strand-out holes, and much of it feels pretty samey. The greens on my visit were pretty slow - indeed the course as a whole was surprisingly wet in places, meaning that it was difficult how much bounce and roll you could expect on approach shots.

Overall, the experience was a little disappointing, and there are many other courses close by which offer a better golfing experience.
