Fabulous course

What a great golf course this is.

Visited here in July 2016, and found an absolutely stunning layout meandering through the dunes with true quick greens and fabulous views, none better than from the 9th tee which has the whole course laid out below you.

This is a tough course, particularly on the front 9, with no 2 holes alike. Straight driving is a necessity on most holes as the rough is penal and you will struggle to find your ball.

Absolutely loved our game here, and will definitely return.

The food in the clubhouse is also worth a mention - highly recommended.

Cruden Bay 9 hole couse review

Cruden Bay St Olaf course, 9 holes of pure magic. Four par threes that will test accurate iron play. The other five holes are difficult at the best of times. Holes 6 and 8 are as good as any holes on the 18 hole course. a must play for visitors.

Cruden Bay review

Very tough when the wind blows. Some blinds holes makes a caddy worthwhile. Excellent views over the north sea. Two short par fours which are risk and reward holes. Sometimes these holes give up birdies but other times a six or worse.

Memorable holes, great design, views and a lot of fun makes Cruden Bay an absolute must play when in northeast Scotland. Overlooked by the ominous Slains Castle the strongest stretch of holes are 3-7!

Tip: relish the blind shots - Tom Morris never had bulldozers. A replay round is strongly recommended and comes significantly reduced so opt for 36 holes!
