Played here with bunkers golf society on 27/4/16.

This course had a reputation of being a top venue somi was keen to put it to the test and it did not dissapoint 1 bit! It really is a top track and i would consider it among one of my favourite golf courses i have played.
The greens were a pleasure to putt on and showed no signs of the poor winter we have had. The stayed true to the line you started them on and were very quick which was a pleasant change to what you would expect. The fairways were also in excellent condition and were firm and dry even after we had a passing snow storm!
All parts of the course are stunning from elevated tee shots to hitting into tight greens surrounded by the forrest itself. I would love to play this course again which brings me to the only thing i can be picky with and that was the price, we paid £45 per person for midweek golf only, bit steep compared to the deals that other golf courses offer and add on your travel there it is an expensive outing. If they offered food incorporated into that price like a lkte bite im sure alot of people myself included would love to come back here.

I played here with Bunkers Golf Society on 27th March 2016.

The name of the course is the clue, but this is 'slap bang' in the middle of the Delamere Forest and the course is therefore cut into some beautiful natural landscape and has some stunning mature golf holes.

Our tee was very early, and therefore we couldn't sample the pre round food - but we got to enjoy the wonderful practice facilities. Two net cages with quality mats, a putting green that truly reflected the pace of the greens on the course, a practice ground that had an astroturf hitting area out into the forest and a great chipping and pitching area.

We started off on the 10th hole as there was a ladies comp on, and played the course in reverse order [with the Pro informing us that it was a good way to warm up before the tougher back 9]

The course is stunning, and is a mix of parkland in places, but predominantly heathfield with the odd feel of links. A wonderful range of mature trees can be found throughout the course and punishing rough with gorse bushes dotted around.

The fairways were rolling and undulating and I could imagine it being a tough walk for some but it just added to the experience for me. There are some blind tee shots that could catch out visitors, but if you play conservatively then you will always give yourself a chance.

The fairways were well manicured and I can only imagine they will continue to improve as the season draws on. The bunkers were well looked after, raked and stocked with the right amount of sand [unlike some courses that can be either too fluffy and overfull to bare and rock hard]

The highlight of the course for me was the greens. After a winter with unprecedented levels of rain and with this continuing into the spring of 2016, we are finding that most courses are at least 6-8 weeks behind where they would normally be for this time of year. However, Delamere were like they had never been subjected to the same weather as the rest of us. Slick and with subtle breaks and undulations but with a beautifully true pace that inspired confidence when putting on them. If you never got to the pace of them quickly, you'd probably not do so for the rest of the round. Luckily, I did, and it made them an absolute joy to play on.

We enjoyed a beer and some of their 'finest sausage rolls for mile around' on the sun drenched terrace overlooking the 18th green after the round and I think its fair to say that everyone in our group of 20 was impressed and eager to return.

I appreciate the exclusivity of Delamere Forest [they limit members to 500] and that it is a course that does things 'the right way' - but a few of our group were surprised that for an early midweek round without food we paid more than most other places we visit. I can understand the reasoning why, but it would make it unaffordable for the average visiting golfer - and that is such a shame that people would miss out on this absolutely stunning venue.

Played on the 27/04/2016 with the Bunkers gold society.

Probably the best course i have played in a long time, each hole provides a different challenge and was in maginificent condition especially for the time of year. Fairways were dry and great to play off, the greens were smooth and quick with varying undulations and subtle breaks making reading the greens a challenge. The club pro was very friendly and helpful upon arrival and provided the society with everything we would need before our round.

After the round the bar staff and members were all friendly asking how we played and if we enjoyed the course.

I would love to come back and play this course again brilliant place.

Great course in great condition. Greens were slick and true. The course is setup to score points which helped our society enjoy a great day of golf. Only small gripe was that the kitchen was not open until 9am so we couldn't order any drinks before our round and there wasn't a coffee machine working either

Make no mistake, is a top class course and club. It oozes class from the car park to the course, from the locker room to the lounge.
Playing with a party of twenty from Bunkers Golf Society, the group received a warm welcome from the club pro (who kindly gave us a couple of baskets of balls free of charge to warm up with) during which he gave us a brief idea of course condition, local rules and regulations.
The course itself was superb with a great variety of attractively designed holes, all of which were in tremendous condition.
The only slight disappointment was the inclement weather which saw us subjected to rain, wind, sunshine and hail in equal measure! This of course was beyond the control even of a club with everything so well ordered.
It is a venue which all agreed would be nice to return to.
The cost of our round (£45pp) was felt by some to be a little expensive for golf only. Perhaps had the fee included coffee and bacon roll it would have offered better value for money.

I can not praise this course highly enough. Without doubt the best course I have played in a long time.

The facilities are exactly what you need from a course. A putting green that represents the courses greens perfectly, decent nets with proper mats and a decent range. The pro was helpful and very welcoming and gave some handy advice that would be needed during the round.

The course is presented immaculately and for this time of year played superbly. The fairways are bone dry and the greens are actually maybe a touch hard making it tough to stop the ball on them.

The layout is interesting and varied with a good mix of short par 4's, long par 3's and two or three shot par 5's depending on the wind.

I thoroughly enjoyed the round and even those who didn't score too well commented how much they enjoyed their rounds.

A great golfing venue and worth every penny.

Played course on our Northern Police Golf Society event for January .
Wow, what a course, worth the money, on normal greens which were fantastic after all that rain.
Afterwards, food was great and very friendly staff.

One of the best courses I've played, the greens were magical very firm and fast to putt on! Plenty of heather about especially on the back 9 which looked superb this time of year.
Loads of whispy rough on the front 9 which made it more of a challenge than the back 9 which had shorter holes on, but still a great challenge the whole course was in great condition which is a credit to the greens staff.
Inside the clubhouse we were made to feel welcome and had some great food! Definitely going back next year.

First time at this course and definitely not the last. A superb golf course on a heathland plateau. A very interesting course with a lot of memorable holes. Not the longest course but the wind and the rough kept the scoring under control! Lots of elevation changes which make for some spectacular looking holes. Very pleasant staff in the clubhouse added to the experience!

Superb heathland course

Played here in September 2015 for the fourth time and enjoyed a splendid sunny but breezy round of golf.

The course is laid out on open heathland with the main hazard being thick rough rather than the trees you might expect.

The front 9 is certainly longer and harder than the back, with a couple of demanding par 4s, including the very tough 1st.

Good scoring opportunities exist on the par 5s, and a number of shorter par 4s. Be wary on the short 15th where the blind tee shot will cause problems unless you play a sensible 200 yard shot at the marker.

Greens were very quick and true on our visit, as is normally the case.

Overall this is a superb private members club which I would highly recommend.

Went here for a society trip in July.. The course is very hilly and buggies were in short supply. The course is challenging, caused by big changes in elevation. There are some spectacular holes on the back 9. Some of the rough is really penal. It's a heathland course. and much of it is on a plateau, making the wind a factor.
Greens were OK. Best to ring up early if you need a buggy.

If you're ever up this neck of the woods (Cheshire) then this is a must visit golf course, truly wonderful. The only thing I could fault about the whole day was the fact that we followed a girls county match, they went out half an hour before we did and we caught them on the 4th hole and were held up forever after!!! We started on the back 9 first as they told us the front nine might 'destroy' us with it's tough start and very windy conditions. The fairways were brilliant and the greens were as well, The course was really well kept and there wasn't a 'boring' hole on the course. Nothing at all wrong with any part of the course, well deserved No 1 in Cheshire I think.

A lovely golf course that was extremely quiet when we played it, it’s easy walking with minimal undulations. The Par 5s are quite short and are reachable in two shots so this helps the scoring. We thought that with the name forest in the title we were expecting a tree lined affair but this isn't the case. The food was great but the price of £8 for a push trolley was rather steep!
