This is the second time i have played here and it did not disappoint again.
Playing the course for the second time i played it a completely different way taking irons and hybrids off the tee to leave myself in the fairway rather then chancing the big stick. The course was in great condition the only fault was due to the heavy rain previously pretty much all of the bunkers were flooded, the rest of the course had held up well and was in fantastic condition! Its a good set up at didsbury with a good practice area to hit pitch shots and a good putting green. Cant wait to visit here again!

I reviewed Didsbury just over 12 months ago and it is still a quality local course.
The practice facilities are really good and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The course plays very nicely and never feels repetitive with a good selection of short par 4's and tough greens. The greens were a little under par but I know my own club has just had a summer maintenance week so maybe Didsbury are due one? This didn't detract from the fact it's a lovely parkland course with lots of character. The bunkers were poor due to being full of water but that's a minor quibble. I reckon we will be back, it's a good place to play golf.

This is a lovely parkland course which will be popular with golfers of all standards.
I visited with 14 of my friends from Bunkers Golf Society and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The courteous and attentive welcome of the catering team got our day off to a great start with a tasty "soup and sandwich" package. Our spirits continued to soar as the sun broke through just in time to welcome us to the first tee right in front of the terrace bar and pro shop.
The course was in excellent condition despite the torrential rain of the previous two days and nights. The only sign of the monsoon were several flooded bunkers. Very surprisingly there was no casual water anywhere else on the course.
The layout is challenging, attractive and interesting in equal measure with so much to enjoy. The criss-crossing of one or two fairways did delay play once or twice but this did not detract too much from our enjoyment of thi lovely course. Greens were immaculate throughout and with a nice selection of drinks (including a tasty real ale) available from the well stocked bar there was not much more the golfer could want from a day out with pals!

I've mentioned on here how much I enjoy Didsbury Golf Club, and thats why I take our society - www.bunkersgolfosociety.com back year after year.

The course just glows emerald green - it really is that lush. Tree lined all the way and with some very unique holes and layouts. Its a good test of golf due to the natural hazards and tight winding fairways.

The greens on this visit weren't as good as previous - with 4 or 5 suffering a little bit. But the rest were all slick and smooth and a pleasure to play on.
The only issue on the day was standing water in 80-90% of the bunkers on the course, which was odd considering the rest of the course showed absolutely no signs of the rain of the previous day. As the water had obviously gathered in the middle of the bunkers, the rest of the sand in there was compacted where the water had run and if you weren't in the water - or had to take relief - then it was generally a horrendous hard lie.

The facilities are still great, and the staff very warm and welcoming. The food was heart and well received and it offered good value in all aspects [from the day itself to the bar costs].

Always a favourite of the society to visit and I'm hopeful it will be voted back again for next year.

Played here with Bunkers golf society in good conditions. Greens were very solid and the course had to be approached with links style play. Not thick rough but find your ball in the rough very often was buried deep down. Facilities and staff very good, would recommend

Visited Didsbury with Bunkers Golf Society and much of what I would like to say has already been said. So not wanting to repeat all the positives what is it that I like.

The staff are great - it must be difficult being nice to 20 scousers in Manchester.

Little touches that make you think they care - small receptacles for broken tees, proper yardage markers on fairways and a hole by hole guide on the scorecard that is actually useful.

The course plays lovely - Fairways that have spring to them and, greens that don't look that fast but play quick enough and are true and consistent. Not that receptive though, but it is the height of summer. The few holes over the bridge are nice with criss crossing fairways and a different feel. Only criticism is the latter part of the back 9 feels a little bit up and down.

Practice facilities are better than pretty much every local club and the pro shop seemed well stocked and friendly.

Overall a cracking little club with enough about it to keep you interested. If I lived local would I consider joining? Yes I would.

Played Didsbury GC yesterday as part of Bunkers Golf Society day. What can I say, it was immaculate! Greens were firm and fast, pin positions were testing but fair, fairways perfectly cut, rough challenging but not so bad you couldn't find your ball and all together the course (with the great weather we had) made the day top notch.

New personal favourite? Possibly, it's up there with the top courses I've been lucky to play.

From the first time I played Didsbury in 2011, I have always enjoyed the course no matter what time of year Ive been up to play it.

I live in Liverpool and so its a bit of a treck for me to play too often [40-50 minute journey]. However, I have been and played about 8 times 3 years and at various times of the season from March, through the summer months and in November. The only difference to the course tends to be that the green trees have faded in the winter months and it can play a touch wetter in the winter [as most places do].

Its a lovely parkland course that is set on the meandering banks of the Mersey [Yes, the Mersey in Manchester!!!] The hole provides a good test of golf without being too punishing. The rough is playable, and if you are in the trees you can generally find your ball and just take your medicine.

The greens are always great and roll true and evenly, and the fairways are always immculate.
The staff have always been nothing short of superb and are very friendly and helpful and I follow them on Twitter where they keep you well informed of whats going on and the course conditions.

Prices are normally always great and its well worth the money. It is a club that I would always recommend people visit and try out - and invariably those people end up doing likewise.

It reminds me of my home course at Lee Park in Liverpool - and I guess thats why I like it so much. As Chairman of www.bunkersgolfsociety,com its always a course I make sure gets a vote for our fixture list.

Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

We took our society - www.bunkersgolfsociety.com to Didsbury on 27th July 2014.

We visited Didsbury in 2013 and it was a course that impressed itself upon both our committee and members alike and it was therefore one we were keen to revisit in 2014.

Friendly, welcoming and always in superb condition – it is a course that cannot fail but impress itself upon you. At Bunkers, we love finding little gems like this. Clubs that maybe don’t steal the limelight of its illustrious neighbours, but play just as beautifully nonetheless.

As always, the staff were extremely helpful and attentive and the bacon butties and hot drinks went down a treat before we made our way out to warm up. Its nice to see that for a ‘small club’, the facilities available pre round are ideal. A 150-ish yard practice area leading to two greens and a well manicured putting green that resembles the pace of the greens accurately. There were also two net areas to warm up the longer clubs before you make your way to the par 3 first.

The course twists and turns and uses the natural layout of the land extremely well to position the holes. The par 5 third hole is a beauty, with a slow left to right turn off the tee and the River Mersey running all the way down the left as it leads up to an elevated green that is protected by a bunker and surrounded by trees that are just waiting to gobble up your golf ball. A tricky 150 yard par 3 follows before you travel over the M60 motorway to play 5 holes that all overlap and intertwine with each other and this unique layout provides a stern test of ability to keep the ball in play and away from the dangers of the holes around it.

Its then back over the motorway to the 10th hole where you are invited to use a club with loft greater than 17 degrees to avoid potentially hooking your tee shot onto the fast lane of the M60!. The 11th is a tricky 186 yard par three to an elevated and well protected multi tier green – where it rewards you to go long rather than come up short. The holes then come thick and fast with the 14th to 16th being tricky holes [2 of them are within the top 4 toughest on the course] and the 16th is a dog leg left with OB all the way down the inside of that dogleg. It’s a true ‘risk/reward’ hole – do you try and take the corner off and drill it over the out of bounds, or do you play safe and go down the middle of the fairway?

The round is then finished with another par 3 – can’t think of many courses that start and finish with one – but it’s a lovely way to end the round with all the players who have finished able to sit and watch the lads come home with a pint in hand .
The course was in great condition, the fairways were in particularly good order and were lush and green and provided confidence when striking irons. The greens looked like they would play slow, but actually rolled smooth, true and with good pace. The bunkers for the most part were well kept and with just the right amount of sand in them – with just the odd one being a bit hard and compacted.
The course throughout is lush and green and appealing on the eye and it genuinely is a track that is a joy to play. Definitely a course to revisit time and again.

The club shop was well stocked with all the usual accessories and golf attire and the staff in there were very helpful and provided pointers to the group on where to best avoid trouble.

The price of the golf was very reasonable - expecially considering we play Sundays and it was the day after a Captains event [which meant the course was in even better condition]. The price in the bar was very reasonable with 2 Guinness and a pint of San Miguel costing less than £10.

We are always happy to recommend Didsbury as a course that is worthy of anyones money. You can pick bigger hotel complexes and branded courses, but this really is as good as any - plus you get the personal touch. Get on the phone/internet and get it booked!
