Great course, friendly staff and good pro shop. Nice bar with a good selection of reasonably priced grub! In very good condition for the time of year with full tees and greens!!

Woodland Course

Average rating

8.2

Woodland is the shorter and poorer neighbour of the other nines. Has no par 5's, shorter par 4's that really don't warrant having a driver on the course. I used three wood and hybrid across the tees. The par 3's are protected by trees in front, and it probably ruins the appeal for the lower/shorter hitter.

Similar greens to elsewhere on the course, but they seem to retain water much worse ... even the overnight sprinklers leave some puddles in places.

Enjoyable romp but wouldn't want to play over the other two nines.

Parkland Course review

Average rating

8.6

Parkland course forms the second half of the main 18 holes. And features more traditional holes. Still not the longest of courses but a little more entertaining with some tough holes to even out the course and make you think. Long hitters will be at an advantage.

Greens are good, and bunkers similar to other with grainy grey sand that is a shame.

Lakeland Course

Average rating

8

Lakeland is the normal starting point for a 18 hole game, and plays around and over various smaller water features. Sometimes these form just one side of the fairway, and shouldn't really be a big issue for many players. The holes are varied but for the most part the par 5's are reachable in two, and some the shorter par 4's you can get very close too.
I enjoyed the large greens, and they were very well kept, shame the bunkering had some horrible sand in it, quite rough and not pretty at all.

The facilities are reasonable enough, the clubhouse can house quite a few people (needs to be as they have a few society groups playing most of the time). The lodges are great and quite secluded too.

Overall a good location for a group of golfers to visit. And we with three loops you'll get plenty of variety.

We traveled down to The Doset for a long weekend, 4 rounds of golf, 3 breakfast and dinner and 3 nights accommodation for £260, the courses pose a real challenge, especially the woodland, we will definitely be returning!

Stayed for a week's family holiday here in one of the lodges. The facilities are superb. 3 x 9 hole layouts provide varied golf and are a good challenge to all abilities. It was very busy with business societies and various members functions but the pro gave us good advice on tee times and we had two timely rounds of golf < 4 hours. There is a fair amount of walking between tees but it is fairly flat.
