The history of Fleetwood Golf Club has been positively traced back to the year 1861 when as a garrison town, officers at the Euston Barracks were instumental in the laying out of the links course, organising a golf competition and presenting prizes to the eventual winners. The first recorded Golf Club was disbanded when the School of Musketry was relocated to Hythe in Kent some five years later.

In 1893, townsfolk with an obvious passion for the game, instituted a Golf Club which had the boundary of the course running alongside the very edge of the sea. This is the accepted date from which the club's centenary was celebrated.

In all there have been three locations for the town's Golf Clubs and the location for the current course at Princes Way, designed by James Steer and opened in 1932, is the only true links course on the Fylde Coast.

We visited Fleetwood last weekend with a lovely welcome from Neil who was great. Told us everything we needed to know about the course and also introduced everyone onto the first tee. The course was great for the time of year. The Staff were friendly and helpful. I would love to play here in the height of summer and no wind hopefully. Would definitely recommend a visit.!

Good course for the time of year, luckily we got great weather with next to no winds which made for a great day and pleasurable round of golf.
The staff treated us really well and the clubhouse had everything you could need.

Great course really enjoyed it, fairways fantastic and weather was lovely which always helps, greens were fast which I liked and helped me, we also got looked after from start to finish and really can’t wait to play there again next year, also I won which is always a bonus, highly recommend it

Our first major of the year and Fleetwood staff went the extra mile to make sure it was a great day. From the arrival to the end was great, as the club sorted all the score cards out for us in order of tee offs. Everyone getting the nervous call out on the first tee from Neil at Fleetwood to add that little bit of pressure. Nice little goodie bag off fleetwood. Course not in the best condition for the time of year greens need a bit work few bobbles and pitch marks. Would very much recommend the course but maybe a little later on in the year. All in all great day sun was shining so made for a great day.

A very welcoming reception, a few nice touches from the club (welcome pack), nice clubhouse and reasonable bacon barm.

When playing any course at this time of year you have to give some slack with your expectations, which in fairness to Fleetwood I would say they have got the course into reasonable shape for the weather we have had. The rough was naturally tough for a links course but you could tell it had been cut/shaped to a manageable length. Not enough definition between the rough and the fairway, still plenty of work to be done but more than acceptable. The main issue was the greens, I accept for this time of year, especially on a links course most clubs are working hard to get them right however they were just way too inconsistent, making it really difficult to get any feel or rhythm.

First time playing this course, a return definitely needed in the summer as you can tell overall this is a really good course!

Played our first major of the year here and had a great day. We were so well looked after from start to finish which was great. Greens were a bit bobly but I’m sure once the summer comes they will be a lot better. Course was set out nicely.

Would definitely come back and play again

Great day of golf with the swingers the Fleetwood Staff made us feel very welcome, even giving us a goodie bag full of tees and markers which was a nice touch, the main guy explained the course to us and the club provided us with nearest the pin and longest drive markers, nothing was to much hassle for them, so hospitality was 10/10,

As for the course, it was great very enjoyable but the greens weren't great, they looked nice but the balls didn't run normally they bobbled all the way to the holes which was a shame, but all in all I had a great day there and for sure would like to come back.

Nice warm welcome off the guy hosting our event but that can’t be said for the lady serving the coffee and bacon barns unfortunately!! Think the bacon was left under the grill a couple of hours too long.. anyway back to the course. Forgiving, flat and well laid out but let down massively with the quality of the greens. Would like to try it in the summer and hopefully see an improvement.

A warm welcome was received on arrival, bacon barmcake was a major let down though. The Course was in a reasonably good condition taking into account the time of year, but lots of the greens needing a good rolling & far too many pitch marks on the greens! The weather was pretty kind to us. Overall I would recommend this course, but only from June to September.

Played here with the society early April. Received a warm welcome and heat with a little goodie bag courtesy of the club which was a nice touch. Fairways and greens wasn’t in the best condition, but this can be forgiven with it being early in the season. Rough was cut back short which made it wide open placing less focus on accuracy of the tee. Would like to play again later in the calendar.

    Swingers golf. 7/4/19.

Played here on 7/4/19. Welcome to the club was fantastic. They really did lay out the red carpet for our society. Someone to greet us on arrival. Score cards and NPs all ready. Starter announced ya off the tee. Great start. However, the course itself wasn’t in the best of conditions. The fairways were bumpy and uneven which probably tells you the state of the greens. Pitch mark were everywhere and threes were patches on most. Very disappointed with the state of the corse on the day. That being said the value for the day out was pretty poor. Probably won’t be going back.

Played in the good friday open and amazingly we had no wind. Very rare for Fleetwood.
The course was in good condition considering the terrible winter we've had. Greens werent fast but fairly consistent.
    The food after was excellent

Ince golf society visited here 07/11/2016.On arrival we were met by the club captain who made us feel more than welcome he was a true gent.Although bitterly cold, we all enjoyed the course some tricky holes and the greens were in good nick.We all agreed that it would be worth coming back to play again in the summer.

The windiest conditions i've ever had to play in. The course was still in great nick. The bunkers were my only issue but i think that was more the wind blowing so hard that the hadnt been able to rake them

    A classic Links

Fleetwood is a classic links course with a good layout, some great par threes and greens of a decent standard.

A bit tricky to get to and a fair drive but good value green fees make up for it. Look out for regular open offers as can play course and win prizes.
