Greens spoil decent course

Went here as part of a trip from the club. I thought that the Emerald course was quite testing, as you need to place the ball off the tee, and avoid the water hazards. Some of the latter are placed such that the shorter hitter has a real problem and sometimes no escape from a watery grave.
The greens are very variable in speed and weren't receptive to a well struck wedge shot. Maybe this was the dry weather. They were also bumpy and mostly slow. This maybe due to maintenance issues the dry weather or just traffic volume. The course is based around the hotel and many rounds are played on it. Maybe this is why they don't putt too well.

I have played this course ( emerald) before and it was in excellent condition. The wet weather has dramatically impacted on the fairways and greens.
The course was so wet, we shouldn't have played , the first tee was a mess caused by animals. Not a great first impression,
The course is challenging and I expect when dry in August ! Will be great, but at present I would leave alone and play elsewhere.
Par 5's are testing with ponds and ditches strategically placed.
The last hole is a gem, but due to damp fairway the second shot over the pond to the green was a rescue to fairway wood. Whereas in the summer the ball run along the fairway would leave a short iron.
Hospitality was great, although too prices for beverages whether be for tea or alcoholic. Perhaps Owners should review that issue.

A group of us played the course and even after some rain it was in great condition. he greens are good but needed cutting as they were a little slow even for the time of year. The course is well laid out with no repetition of hole like so many clubs have. When we played there were no temporary Tees but as there were mats visible I suspect that they do go to them in winter. No temporary greens were evident so I expect that they don't have them. The pro ship has nice staff but beware of the cost of food and drink as they charge hotel prices. Otherwise a great days golf
