Nice little course with some very interesting holes that require thought off the tee. Not a long course but still challenging with oob or ditches meaning you can't simply spray your shots and be ok, which is a good equaliser.

Played in October 2018 with the Bunkers GS.. what a great track, tricky/tight and interesting layout with a number of dog leg holes that you’ll want to play again.. condition of the course was superb for the time of the year. The fairways were firm and kept in good condition, with the greens true and well maintained. If you are a local society looking for a good value/challenging course, make sure Huyton and Prescott is on your list!

I visited on a Sunday in October. I have not visited Huyton for a few years so post round I was pleased with how much I enjoyed the course and wondered why I don’t come more often.

The greens were smooth and quick for the time of year and the undulations and slopes made them pretty tricky.

The tee boxes were really good, the fairways well cut and rough not too long.

I like the layout of the course. There are a couple of tricky doglegs and even the straighter par 4’s are broken up with natural hazards, slopes or trees.

The clubhouse seems to have been refurbished since my last visit and it is very pleasant. Staff were friendly and food I had was good.

Huyton and Prescot is a good local course that I hope to return to soon.

Course played very well, weather conditions bad for the first 4 holes (heavy down poor’s flooded the greens) but the course was in tip top condition - some narrow fairways(High trees so you drive needs to be straight) overall very nice course, staff friendly, food and drink spot on - well worth a visit for all golfers

Played this course with friends on the 16/9/17 and we had a really enjoyable round. It was after a week of serious rain and I was surprised how well the course had held up. Only one or two areas that you would consider unplayeble and they had been made GUR. Layout was decent, some easy hole and some challenging ones and a course I think you can expect to get a good score on if you're hitting the ball well. I'll certainly be going back.

I played Huyton and Prescot as part of a work’s golf society.
Perhaps not the easiest place to find as the Sat Nav code that I had got off the internet sent me into someone driveway, but we got there eventually.
The clubhouse looks like it is in need of a touch of paint, but the welcoming we got was superb and the package included, tea or coffee with a bacon sandwich, 9 holes, soup and sandwiches, 18 holes and a 3 course meal to finish.
We picked a good day and as the weather had been good for a number of weeks so the course was in good condition.
The front and back 9 were both challenging and due to the maturity of many trees it will certainly make you think about your shots.
The food was excellent and I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area and have not played it before.

Had a good day at this golf club, food was more than acceptable all day, having bacon barns in the morning, sandwiches and chips at lunch and a good two course dinner.
This course is not easy and you need to be accurate to keep out of trouble. The only real negative was that the greens had just been tantalised which made putting a lottery.
I would like to return to this course when the greens are in tip top condition.

Played here with society only to find the greens had been cross banded and were in quite a poor condition making it difficult to get the ball to the hole the rough was to deep resulting in quite a few lost balls by a number of our members. The locker room door locks were broken making getting in the visitors locker room quite difficult.the food and staff were very good but the main reason to be there was the golf and the general condition of the coarse was poor

First time here for the society, arrived early morning enjoyed a bacon sandwich followed by nine hole comp, putting a few balls on practice green wasn't impressed with the condition hoping course greens would be better but unfortunately they weren't but got a good explanation as to the condition and why, putting that aside personally l found the course quite tight being straight was a bonus (24 handicap) didn't help so lost quite a few balls finished the 18 holes reasonably happy to be greeted by a very friendly staff who fed us with the largest meal I have had in many a year all good stuff, would I go again, yes definitely just to let the greens do justice to rest of the course.

    Huyton & Prescot 12/08/16
A new course for our society.
Arrived at 9.15, welcomed with a very nice bacon sandwich and coffee.
Went out to play 9 holes and soon noticed just how slow and inconsistent the greens where, certainly not in best condition.
A number of balls where lost by our members in the semi rough, yes I agree to be penalised, however not being able to find your ball unless you stood on it…. The semi rough was much too long.
Played 18 holes in the afternoon and the remainder of the holes was very much the same as the front 9 holes ….Course certainly not at its best.
Overhaul the clubhouse was very nice the catering staff friendly and each plate of food they provided was sufficient to feed two adults … No complaints, just increased my weight by a few extra pounds.
The course itself requires some TLC.

An excellent day's golf where the weather was fine and sunny and the course in good condition despite the previous day's heavy rain.
An interesting and picturesque course which was only slightly spoiled by the recently treated greens which were therefore a bit inconsistent and slower than they would usually be.
Would love to go back and play again when the greens have fully recovered.

Played 27 holes here as part of a visiting society. The 9 in the morning was extremely slow as every senior in the area seemed to be out in a comp before us. Just about made it back to have some lunch!
The course is an interesting one with accuracy being needed for some tight tee shots. Plenty of blind shots out there aswell. The course was in ok condition but the tee boxes and greens let the course down. Some work had clearly happened on the greens in the last few weeks, im sure they would be a lot better usually.
The food was very good all day and the portions for the evening meal a lot bigger than usual. I'm sure we will return here soon enough, hopefully when the greens are in top condition.

Played for first time today. Found the course and layout quite interested. You had to think about tee shots. A few dogleg holes. However the fairways didn’t run, needed cutting. The rough was rough. Punishing. But worst was the greens. Had tramlines in. Treated. Inconsistent and some very scruffy areas. Not good. Spoiled it really. If the course condition improved it would make a big difference.

A traditional clubhouse for a traditional tree lined parkland course with many fairly short, but tricky, holes.

One to make you think about club selection with position on many of the doglegs proving crucial for the second shot.

Many of the RAM Golf Society have said they would like to return.

The only downside was that the greens were a little too good. Whether it was the Monday after a big comp or whether they like to challenge visitors with a tough test, the pin positions and racy greens saw many putts sail straight off the green again on the gentlest of slopes.

Sadly the time I played it it was winter time and the course was very wet, playing from the winter tees to winter greens made the course very short indeed, a few doglegs to navigate but the greens were very good for the time of the year, with a friend as a member I hope to get back when it a bit drier

Despite it being autumn, the course was dry and the greens were firm and quick with approach shots barely leaving a pitch mark. The layout is interesting and varied, and no two holes felt the same.

If you like a peaceful round of golf then maybe H&P isn't for you - the constant noise from the motorway that the course sits alongside is perhaps the only negative point. There isn't much that can be done about that, so don't let it put you off - it is well worth a visit.

I've played Huyton & Prescot a number of times over the last couple of years and despite the course being short on the card, it is always a test of golfing ability - and yesterday was no different.

The course only has one par 5, but by no means should you think you will 'tear this place apart'. The holes are all cleverly protected with well placed bunkers and hazards and the natural contours of the land make quite a few shots very tricky as you come in from an elevated position, or find yourself stood with the ball above/below your feet if you are out of position.
Yesterday it was quite windy which only made things ever tougher and it was a a real challenge on some of the holes.

I was disappointed in the quality of the greens to be honest. I know its early season, but most clubs are just starting to come into their prime and you can see they are only 2/3 weeks off. However, Huyton & Prescot had the unenviable combination of quick greens but very uneven surfaces. It made putting a mystery as I had no idea how the ball would react and get to the hole once it had left the club face.

Its a shame as its letting the course down from scoring extremely well in review terms and is clearly a concern to members who were discussing it in the bar after our round.
