Known as "The Friendliest Club on Merseyside" Lee Park Golf Club is a well manicured, easy on the feet, challenging mature parkland course and is well known for its friendy welcome and the best greens bar none on Merseyside (see our 5 star ratings from independent TeeUpLo golfer reviews). Also voted in 2017 the best course in Liverpool ( click link - goo.gl/dbgXbW ) by 100 independent golfer reviews on Golfshake.

Always presented in first class condition with the best scenic finishing hole now on Merseyside. Three separate top class warm up areas around the club for practice and the largest modern Spike Bar in the area for a relaxing end to the day.

We have won five Environmental awards since 2008 for the actions taken on the course over several years to provide a varied wildlife habitat. Our course is a now wildlife oasis.

Our club reached the finals of the 2015 UK Environment Golf Club of the Year award - the other finalists were Carnoustie, Royal St Davids and Hankley Common - tough opposition! The winner was Royal St David's, we came joint second with Carnoustie!!

Then in 2016 we were nominated to the last two in the award for the UK Operation Pollinator final - just us and Carnoustie - unfortunately second again to Carnoustie - no mean feat for a small urban parkland course.

We also first gained Golf Mark accreditation in 2006 from the EGU - still the only club on Merseyside to have won this award - for the way we look after our thriving Junior section and recognised progressive management of the club. The Seniors section is well supported and they play an active role in many friendly and league competitions. The Ladies section is active both socially and competitively in inter club matches.

    12th June 2014

Our team was greeted by General Manager, Steve Settle who was full of enthusiasm for Lee Park Golf Club. His energy and drive was clearly apparent as he gave a brief tour of the Lee Park set up. Steve took us to the 18th green which, during the winter months had undergone a major facelift. The club had created a real signature hole and a great finish to any round of golf. A brook flows from right to left cascading down a stone built brook to the left side of the green entering into a large pond/water feature which protects the left side of the green , creating a real risk and reward approach shot, it also looks stunning.

From leaving the club house and entering the 1st tee there is a visibly mature layout awaiting you, all fairways are lined with mature and substantial trees/foliage, a feature in many of the tee shots through the 18 holes. Many of the fairways are fairly tight and require good positioning from the tee shot. An example of this on the front nine would be stroke index 1, hole 4. It is tight from the tee and with a mid to long iron in your hand to a green that is flanked by bunkers, again requires accuracy or a big number will follow! The stroke indices are a real indicator of the tough holes on this course and highlight the possible card wreckers. My personal favorite on the front none is the 9th hole, position is paramount from the tee shot which needs to be in the region of 220yds to leave a clear view to a green that is extremely well protected, although the approach shot is with a short iron you really do need to keep it straight, a push or a pull is in big trouble.

The back nine starts with a lovely par 3, the view of the green from the tee is framed by two wonderful tall pines, only a short hole but playing into a heavily tiered front to back green, not easy! The back nine is littered with well laid out holes, the 14th and 15th are stroke 4 and 2 respectively and require two of your best to get up in regulation. However, it is the 18th that steals the limelight as I described earlier, it is a great finish. Just make sure you have a few balls spare by the time you get there!

We finished the round in a great clubhouse that is full of warmth and hospitality, the fish and chips we ordered was a mere £6.95 including a pint! The club house has the snooker table, large screens for the sports events and great changing facilities. All in all a great visit, unbelievable value for such a good quality track.

My second time visiting Lee Park with Bunkers Golf Society and once again it has left a positive impression. Although my game wasn't upto much I have no complaints about the course itself. Many courses have been hit hard by the terrible winter so credit has to be given to the GreenKeepers for maintaining it to a excellent playing standard. Looking forward to next year already!!

Played with Bunkers GS on Weds 16th May. I haven’t played here for a year or so and never play particularly well here but that does not detract from the fact it’s a lovely local course.

Famous for its immaculate greens it didn’t let us down at a time when some courses are still struggling to get up to speed. The course layout is the same but I noted some improvements to Bunkers, tee boxes and most evidently the practice facilities which from formerly being a putting green and short range now boasts a quality chipping green and decent nets.

The rough seems to have been left to grow out a bit more than usual so added an extra element of difficulty and the pin positions were not overly friendly but the course played firm and fair.

I always enjoy my poor round of golf here so no reason why you shouldn’t either.

Always a warm welcome awaits you, We had food on arrival, which was excellent quality. Thank you to all the staff on giving us a great day out.

I visited Lee Park on 16/5/18 with Bunkers GS. I currently play off a 18 handicap.

It was my first ever visit too Lee Park and I was pleasantly surprised at the full venue from the second you drive through the gates.

There are endless amounts of practice areas at your disposal which is always handy before tee off. These are in fantastic condition and gave a really good insight to how the greens were rolling.

The course itself was in fine form, the fairways were running and every fairway was cut to perfection. Most of the fairways are heavily tree lined but by no means make this course narrow, but does make you think about your tee shot.

The greens were in good condition some were tougher to read than others but gave a good challenge. The greens were also rolling brilliant and quite easily the best greens I’ve played on this year. When they reach there peak in the summer months I can imagine they will be like carpets.

A pleasantly flat course no uphill treks to greens or long inclined fairways and dry as a bone and the first time in a long time I’ve not had to wash my shoes after a round of golf.

Lee Park GC is a fantastic golf club/course the people in the clubhouse gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel very much like we were members.

The only downside that I can criticise on is that there is no pro shop which we were given the heads up on before arrival.

Great course, great people, great experience, I will definitely be returning through the summer.

I’ve played a number of parkland courses this year and nothing is in as good condition as this place. The fairways have been left a little long to combat the poor weather we’ve had but the greens are immaculate (as always). Everyone at the club is really welcoming and I can’t fault anything about our experiences there. A true please to visit each year. Thanks all at Lee Park

I visited Lee Park with Bunkers Golf Society on 16/05/18 and play off a handicap of 10.

Another superb visit to "Merseyside`s Friendliest Club". Despite the new faces at the helm, the clubs ethos remains the same [long may that continue]

The course was in great condition in comparison to all others Ive played locally this year. Greens not quite up to the usual LPGC "carpet-like" standard, but only because every club seems to be about 4-6 weeks behind at the moment after the ridiculously bad winter we have had.

Superb value as always and a great welcome in the clubhouse from all the staff - its something Ive become accustomed to now and is one of the great things about this club.

The course on the whole played well. Was dry underfoot throughout and walked off with clean shoes!! The bunkers could do with a bit of attention as they were a bit `hit and miss` but the course is starting to really take shape and it promises to be another good year.

The course is pretty flat and is a pleasant walk. Its not overly penal in terms of losing balls hand over fist, but you do need to keep the ball in play to give you chance of scoring well as the tree lined fairways demand respect and you will be `chopping out sideways` from anything that goes too far either side.

Its you are able to get down to Lee Park GC, I would highly recommend playing 18 holes and enjoying a few pints down there.

We returned to LPGC with Bunkers Golf Society on 16th May 2018.

Changes since our last visit as long standing club Manager Steve Settle has moved on to be replaced by Mark Rabone. However the warm welcome and friendly faces around the clubhouse remain - which we personally feel is paramount to making this one of the first clubs we look to visit each year. You can`t put a price on customer focus and friendliness and its what has put Lee Park above others in Merseyside.

We are almost sick and tired of writing the words "given the winter we have experienced in the UK" during our reviews, but its hard not to utter the phrase as every club we have visited so far in 2018 is a few weeks behind where they would ordinarily be at this point in the season. Lee Park is no different. However, it is far and away the best condition course, and particularly greens, that we have played on so far.

The slick, smooth Lee Park roll isn`t 100% there yet, but its not far off and it was nice to putt on a green where the ball had a chance of staying on line!!!

The course itself was emerald green and coming in to full bloom. This makes it very tight in parts as the tree lined fairways give the impression that you don`t have much room to play with. However, its not a penal course and you can go around here without losing a ball despite a few wayward shots.

The Bunkers could do with a bit of TLC and tidying up and there are patches of the course that are showing `war wounds` from the brutal winter - but on the whole it played beautifully.

As always, the food and drink were good and offered sound value and the feel in the clubhouse is always one of interaction and conversation [rather than that often found `golfing silence`]

It again gives us great pleasure to be able to strongly review the club and say without reservation that we will be back again - not only as a society, but as individuals throughout the year. Its definitely a club that we would recommend ALL golfers pay a visit to.

    I play off 18.

Played this course on 16.5.18 with BGS.

As always great reception from the New manager taking over from Steve. Burger and chips to start was good quality and bar prices very reasonable.

This course doesn't have a club shop so be prepared before arrival.

great practise areas for putting and chipping and 2 practise nets all very good quality. Good practise area available for the longer clubs.

the course was in great condition as always. Despite the bad weather this course has managed to keep its quality. Greens slightly slower than usual but still a perfect roll on them.

Tee boxes where in good condition and fairways and rough very pleasing on the eye.

Great par 3 10th and good finishing hole. Always good for nearest in 2... You can even use the water feature to your advantage......

once again a very enjoyable round of golf at this great course. We will return and I recommend to all.

Played at Lee Park with our Society on Sunday 24th September 2017. We were given a very warm welcome on arrival and some members spoke to us and gave a few handy tips about playing the Course. The Pro told us that some Greens had been Scarified and Vertidrained meaning that the Green Fee would be reduced by £10 per man which was a cracking gesture. The Course itself had held up really well considering the amount of rainfall recently. All areas had been mown and were in good order. The Bunkers were neat and tidy as were the tee boxes and fairways. The Greens were not at their best due to the ongoing work programme but that is to be expected around this time of year. The Course is flat and an easy walk. It is fairly short but strategically placed ditches and Bunkers mean that you have to plot your way around. We will definitely return next Summer and I will really look forward to it.

played here on 8th July with Bunkers GS. Steve (The Manager) came and spoke to me as always very friendly and eager to show off the new practise area.
New nets and chipping area with a perfect green equal to those on the course. A great addition to this course. !!!
the course was in immaculate condition and the greens are a credit to all those involved.
the course has a challenging layout with a good variety of holes.
2 course meal afterwards was very nice and the bar prices very reasonable.

I played this course on Saturday and its in wonderful condition. The Greens are the best I have played on all year. The fairways are in excellent condition and the only Bunker I encounted was well stocked with sand. On the back nine there is a few holes that are close together, so making the fairways a little narrow with internal out of bounds on one hole. we had a deal that include food after our round of golf, which was excellent value. The hospitably was also excellent. Thank you Lee Park GC

In recent years, many members of Bunkers Golf Society have developed very warm and respectful relationships with the committee and members of this lovely club. Many society members have indeed held memberships at this fine, hospitable club.
Lee Park offers visitors a tremendous golfing experience and excellent value for money.
The course is always in good condition and you will search far and wide to find better greens anywhere.
The food is delicious and plentiful and the friendly atmosphere in the informal spike bar is a real pleasure to get back to after your round.

I visited Lee Park GC as part of Bunkers Golf Society on 8th July 2017 and I play off a handicap of 11.

I have previously been a member of Lee Park, but due to work commitments in the last couple of years I`ve had to let my membership go. So I was really looking forward to going back to the club with the society after a period away. I follow the club on Twitter and I was intrigued to see all the work that had been done first hand.

Lee Park has always been a supremely friendly club, with the staff all taking the time and effort to get to know me [and all members] and they all seem to have this ability to remember you by name. The greens have always been outstanding and are something the club [rightly] should be very proud of.

However, at times in the past, the course itself has come under elements of criticism in some quarters. Some saying the layout isn`t testing enough, and others critical of the winter condition. I know during my time as a member that neither of things were an issue for me and the winter problems seemed to be a thing of the past due to the hard work and investment the club made.

Going back with Bunkers Golf Society was a eye opener to what I have missed over the last 2 years that I have been away. It was great to see familiar faces and say hello to old friends.

However, this review isn`t all about people......the course? Its in the best condition I have ever seen it and the greens are quite simply the best I have played on for a considerable amount of time. Bearing in mind that in the last 12 months I have played all 3 courses at Gleneagles, The Brabazon, Royal Liverpool, Hillside, S&A and Conwy amongst others. I can say with great certainty that Lee Park`s greens were better. I kid you not.

Slick, smooth and a dream to putt on. The club should be extremely proud of the work they have put into them and the ongoing monitoring of the greens that they do in conjunction with agronomists.

The course generally was in superb condition with the fairways all cut beautifully and the rough had two definitions of depth. Bunkers were well stocked and fair and the tee boxes were all flat and well tendered.

The cost of the day - as always at Lee Park - was outstanding value. Food was plentiful and tasty and the prices in the clubhouse were excellent. In an age where a lot of clubs try and `rake money in` for a post round snack and pint, its refreshing that Lee Park take the approach that they would like to see the clubhouse bustling with golfers as opposed to near empty with people being charged up to £5 a pint.

In summary, this revisit to the club will probably get me back to the club for the 2018 season. I live 2 minutes from the club and it fits everything that I would want. Primarily, its a place where you are made to feel part of whats going on - whereas with some clubs, you feel like a number. There are clubs with a more picturesque backdrop or who have been given more media coverage resulting in a wider spread reputation - but let me tell you, there aren`t many better clubs about than Lee Park Golf Club.
If you have never visited, get yourself down and see for yourself. The phrase "hidden gem" is overused in golfing circles, but its an understatement here.

As an ex member Andy, it was our pleasure to welcome back all our Bunkers friends for your day out. As you say we have worked hard on improving what we have. Our greens get superb reviews - they improve year over year and are now at their peak for a longer playing period from May to October. All our visitors praise them and the extra effort on presentation on the course and expenditure on fairway drainage this year has paid big dividends. We have also invested in a short game warm up area and 2 new driving nets. Our club doesn't stand still and we are already looking at other areas on the course to reinvest member's money. But as always, customer focus is everything - no expenditure for big rewards in happy visitors and members. Steve Settle Manager

Bunkers Golf Society visited Lee Park G.C on Saturday 8th July 2017.

Lee Park Golf Club have always been very generous to Bunkers Golf Society. They’ve hosted our Last Man Standing competition previously and several of our members have joined the club as members in one guise or another over the years.

It’s always been a well-run club with a great ethos. It’s certainly the friendliest club that I have visited and every member of staff makes the effort to remember names and engage in conversation on every visit – which is a lovely trait. On top of this, the club produces the very best from the land that it has been given.

Put simply, it is currently in the finest condition that we have ever seen it. The course looks immaculate from tee to green – and the later are still the star of the show and would not be out of place on ANY golf course in the U.K. They are fabulous. More about that shortly.

On arrival, we were greeted by manager Steve Settle and had a bite to eat in the clubhouse. The food was superb value for money and the portions were large and very tasty. We then went out onto the putting green and upgraded practice area consisting of a chipping area, bunker and 2 practice nets – this in addition to the short practice ground that allows up to about 130 yard shots.

On to the 1st tee and the sun was pouring down on the course and showing it in its best light. Lush green fairways that were all well mown and defined cuts of rough that were striped to give an even greater appeal on the eye. Mid-summer and the course was in full bloom with the trees, foliage and flowers all helping to make the fairways look even tighter from each of the tee boxes.

On to these greens…on the notice board it told us that they were measuring between 11 and 12 on ‘the stimp’ and it’s fair to say that they rolled quicker and truer than anything we have played on in 2017. In fact, we would go as far as to say that they are the best greens we have visited this year, if not the last couple of seasons. They are immaculate and having been to the club hundreds of times they are probably as well as we have ever seen them. Putting on them [when we got used to the pace] was a dream. Send the ball on the chosen line and it didn’t deviate with a constant and true roll.

The course is pretty easy going and flat, but is by no means easy. The main defence is the tight layout and the final 4 or 5 holes – especially in a team competition where all three players scores in each team had to count – meant that it sorted the men from the boys. For anyone thinking Lee Park is an easy test of golf [which could be the misconception when simply looking at the layout] the proof was in the scoring on the day – with 4 of the 6 teams all finishing on 68 points [where 72 points would be par] and the top score being 73.

Afterwards we enjoyed a 2 course meal, a few beers and again the warmth and friendliness of the staff and members in the clubhouse. The day cost £35 per man, which on a Saturday afternoon is supreme value.

In summary, Lee Park has always been a club we have really enjoyed and felt we have a strong relationship with. We like the way they operate and they share similar values to how we like to operate as a society. However, on this return visit, we were blown away by the improvements the club have made and the high standards that are being kept. The one constant is the people and the friendly nature – but making this whole thing “just work” isn’t a fluke. It’s hard work and people who are proud of what they are trying to achieve and long may that continue. It’s fair to say, a few people will probably back joining in 2018 and that’s the biggest compliment we can give.

Played Lee Park with the Bunkers Society on a fabulous day for a days golf..

The course itself is tricky in places with driving accuracy required on many of the holes..

The greens however are amazing - running true and fast with very marks on them, they are of the highest quality..

Big thank you to all the staff, as they couldn't do enough for everyone and as welcoming as you could expect..

Thank you Lee Park - see you soon

We played this course as a society day for swingers golf society (based in the north west) and I must say that even bearing in mind it was only £25 to play it was one of the nicest course I've played. The greens were fast and definitely up there with the best. We will definitely be making this course an annual fixture on our calendar.

I play off 20. Member of Bunkers Golf Society. Played here today 18.04.17. Had a coffee in the spike bar friendly chatty bar staff then the Manager Steve introduced himself. Advised me that the Greens aren't quite Lee Park quality.
So after the friendly chat onto the superbly kept putting green before making to the first tee. Tee block perfect condition which continued for each hole. The fairways look amazing. Eventually land on the green, think Steve was a little harsh, I've played a few courses in April and these greens are head and shoulders above them all. This is a nice course great condition and a must play !
    A friendly welcoming club

Now that you have been back since April visit, you now know what I mean that they were not yet up to Lee Park summer standard - not harsh but we know how good they would be. But as you say for April I know we were ahead of all other courses - thanks to our superb professional green staff. Thanks again for your latest review. Steve Settle Manager

Returned to Lee Park as a guest having been a member up until a few years back. Work and family meant I couldn't keep up that membership but the welcome I received returning as a paying guest was fantastic. Steve and his team are the most hospitable team around and their enthusiasm is catching.
The course given that it was April 18th was superb. I noticed visible improvements since my last visit throughout the course. The tees are flat and large, the fairways are defined and striped and the rough is short and playable. Parts of the course I would have expected to be damp were vastly improved and overall appearance is lovely.
Lee Parks greens are their pride and they were not a disappointment. Smooth, fast and on the edge of being at their summer best. I would urge anyone considering a trip to Lee Park to make the effort. Seek out Steve, enjoy a bite to eat and have a very enjoyable days golf.

Great review and many thanks - we have invested wisely on equipment and drainage recently. Together with a professional approach to course/ greens preparation early season and a planned schedule, we are now raising the bar on summer conditions. Steve Settle Manager
