We are situated on the beautiful Fylde Coast in the lovely resort of Lytham in the North West of England. We are part of England's famous "Golf Coast" which has 20 of the most acclaimed golf courses in the country. Our club, founded in 1913, is an easy walking pleasant 'Parkland Course' with no strenuous hills, although buggies and pull trolleys are available for hire if needed. The course is ideal for all handicaps as it is particularly testing with rewards for the more venturous player but has allowances for shots by those of less ability.
Our Half-Way House is always stocked with a range of hot & cold refreshments and quick snacks to prepare you for the tougher back nine.
'Green Drive' has a reputation as probably the friendliest and most sociable golf club on the Fylde. This reputation is gained over many years by feedback from visitors and guests alike.
You can be assured that a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere awaits you before and after the perfect round of golf

The Teeuplo Tour led us back up the M6 for a visit to the self proclaimed 'Golf Coast', this time we were visitors to Lytham Green Drive Golf Club.

The area is synomynous with links golf and boasts the Open Championship venue at Royal Lytham St Annes which is situated just a mile down the road. Lytham Green Drive however is a parkland course and one of quality.

On arrival we were greeted by a very warm welcome from the management team and a quick check in to the pro shop introduced us to the professional staff, then it was across the practice putting green and onto the 1st tee. I can imagine it to be a nerve racking experience on a busy day as it is situated only yards from the putting area and in full view of the traditional clubhouse, with its glass fronted clubhouse filled with an audience awaiting your first shot of the day! Fortunately for me it was a quiet morning and the pressure was off!

It is a nice opening hole, a par 4 which makes its way from left to right. Following a decent enough drive I was soon to learn that although this was parkland in layout it very much played firm into the greens as you would expect from a links. We had experienced some very dry weather so I am not sure this is always the case. I found myself hitting the remainder of approaches a club short and allowing them to release to the green or at least that is what I tried to do.

One of my favourite holes on the front nine was the 4th, a fairly short par 4 with a tight tee shot that was framed by large trees both left and right. If you did find a good positon from the tee you would be faced with a short iron into a small green protected by bunkers and a narrow brook that run across the fron of the green. One thing a noted was the great richness in colour of the greens, they were in excellent condition and had no doubt been well attended to in the recent weeks of dry weather, these were lush dark green and rolled true, I would imagine they could get them playing a little faster for the weekend competitions if they chose to.

The 6th hole is a nice par 3 playing around 175 yds into a green that is surrounded by 7 bunkers, I did not manage to avoid them, however the bunkers were very consistent, very well maintained and a real feature of the golf course. The course is littered with bunkers which are all fairly small with relatively steep face. I loved both the 8th and 9th holes, again both tight of the tee and greens are small targets, the main difference between the 2 holes and there respective stroke index was in length, the 9th played 450yds and stands as stroke index 1, on the day we played was into a headwind so it takes two of your best to get up in regulation.

The back nine starts with another lengthy par 4, again around the 450yds (stroke 4) region and into a small target, one of the main features of the golf course is the size of the greens, they are all small targets and require accurate iron play or you will be visiting a number of the aforementioned bunkers. The 13th is another par 3 which is looking great from the tee, it plays around 150 and the green has bunkers both left and right and in the front is a small pond awaiting your ball. The course finishes with a nice par 5, OB runs parallel to the roadside on the right and continues all the way to the green, well placed bunkers await the drive and the entance to the green is very narrow with bunkers surrounding.

The condition of the course was excellent, the fairways looked 'Wentworth like' in their appearance with the accurately mowed patterns running through them. The definition throughout fairways, greens, fringes and aprons all add to the visual experience and this is the detail that seperates the quality of golf courses. Attention to detail was apparent and my congratulations goes to the green staff.

The Fylde coast has some great options for golf and Lytham Green Drive is one of them, it is nice to have a parkland course thrown into the mix in this traditionally links area, If you are considering a weekend away then I would certainly look at Lytham as a superb area for golf lovers, the variety of courses is excellent and each offers a warm welcome.

I played here with Bunkers Golf Society on 05/08/18 and I play off 9hcp.

This is a beautiful parkland course - where the length of the holes marked on the card may lead you to thinking it will be easy......it is not. You need to drive well to find the tight fairways, the second shot needs to be accurate to locate the small and well protected greens and the putting needs to be on song or the subtle breaks on the carpet-like greens will race past the hole leaving you a tricky putt back with '3-putt' potential lurking in the back of your mind!

Great layout and in superb condition it is worth a visit for any keen golfer, particularly if you are in the area to visit the links courses as this will offer something different but safe in the knowledge it is well presented and offers fair value.

The food afterwards was superb - a huge roast dinner carvery followed by apple crumble.....what golfer doesn't enjoy that!

We took Bunkers Golf Society to Lytham Green Drive G.C for the first time on August 5th 2018 for our final major of the season.

The course certainly befitted its name as it was a beautiful emerald colour - which was striking on arrival as every course we have visited of late has been scorched by the summer heatwave.

Its a lovely parkland track that despite the short yardage on the scorecard, plays a lot harder due to the mature tree lined fairways and narrow landing areas for tee shots. Accuracy off the tee is paramount if you want to score well and the fairways were lush and spongy and a delight to play your second shot from [if you were lucky enough to find them!]

The general condition of the course was great with the rough clearly defined and the fairways had been cut and rolled with an eye-catching diamond pattern. It's details like this that stick in a golfers mind as they walk around the 18 holes.

The greens were fabulous. Smooth, slick and even paced and were a delight to putt on. They were some of the best we have played on in 2018 and great credit should go to the clubs green staff for the way they were presented.

Bunkers were well stocked, raked and tidy and it was nice to see that members and guests alike were maintaining the bunkers rather than that 'pet hate' we all have as golfers when you find your ball sat in a footprint where someone couldn't be bothered to rake after themselves!

The course is flat, which makes it a nice walk and the layout of the holes keeps things interesting. There are some really tricky holes on the course where placement of the tee shot determines whether you will be scoring heavily or not. The greens are all compact and well guarded, meaning that your second shot really does need to be coming from the fairway - and often from the correct side of the fairway - to enable you to make par or better.

The day cost us £50 per man with tee times at 10am on a Sunday and included a beautiful 2 course Sunday carvery afterwards - which was cooked beautifully and was plentiful [with most of the lads returning for seconds!]

In summary, Lytham Green Drive was a lovely surprise to find. It was welcoming and friendly and the condition of the course was immaculate. It is on the extremities of the distance our members vote to travel from Liverpool but the combination of all the above factors we have mentioned above makes it a club to definitely re-visit.

Played as part of Bunkers Golf Society. Really enjoyed the course. Not the longest of courses (not a bad thing) but has lots of interesting holes and the greens were in excellent condition. The staff were very friendly and the food was plentiful. Overall would recommend to any golf society looking for a lovely course and a welcome to match!

Played this lovely course on our day out. The course was in great condition, greens well manicured and running true. The difficulty with the course is staying on the fairways on this parkland course and lots of bunkers to be aware of. I would of liked a more generous cover of sand in the bunkers that I was in. Great staff and good food, overall a good day out.

Had the pleasure of playing this course in glorious sunshine. Greens were manicured and ran true, fairways were as good as I’ve seen this year and provided a test that I failed miserably. Catering staff were really friends and the food supplied was superb. I couldn’t thank them enough.

Played Lytham Green Drive recently, very impressed with the course, what makes it hard are the small greens and the variants on the way they run. Fairways are undulating and there is water that does come into play. Would definitely play again

Played this course on Sunday 16 August with Cargill golf society. We only paid £30 which was a special deal that was on because the Walker Cup was being played at Royal Lytham. The course was in excellent condition. The fairways were like carpets and the greens very lush like snooker tables. All in all a superb course.

I have been a member at Green Drive for 15 years, and always enjoy my rounds here.

Best when the ground is driest in the mid-summer months, this is a completely flat and easy-walking course, with notably small greens making accuracy paramount.

With only 2 par 5s, and a number of difficult par 3s and 4s, playing to your handicap is achievable on a good day, but stray off line and the many trees and hazards will inevitably take their toll on your score.

Outside the summer months, the ground conditions can become a little on the soft side, but drainage work over the past few years has improved the course considerably.

An excellent choice for a Society day out.

This is a relatively new course but looks like its been there forever. The course is very interesting and offers a real treat for all golfers.
The holes are all different and the greens are great. The only drawback is that it can become boggy when it rains. This is the only fault i can find with this place.

Love playing this course, greens are good and it's a beautiful walk. Some very tough par 4s, in particular 9, 10 and 14. They offer some great value over the summer hosting some really good opens.

Gets some stick for drainage but it's unfair as vastly improved in recent times.
Studio facilities are as good as have seen.
