Me and 3 others played in the AMAM here this Sunday gone. I had been looking forward to playing here for a long time and wasnt disappointed at the entrance to the course (almost magnolia lane like) and the big board with names and tee times on it. The practice range is also quality, with the free pyramid of range balls.

The Course however really really disappointed me. I had heard great things about this track but i found it all a tad bland and easy! The holes at the top of the course as you hit the back nine (11,12,13,14) are some of the worst holes I have played!! I did enjoy the look of the Par 3's though. The condition of the greens was ok, but just ok. I wouldnt be rushing back for £25 a man never mind £45pp!!

But.....Its another one ticked off and we always have a laugh wherever we play which is the main thing!

Played as part of a group of 16 - ranging from 8-13 handicap as part of a tour of Yorkshire. The Greens were in magnificent condition and overall everyone commented on how great the course was - I think most played pretty solidly - the winner on the day shot a fab 7 over, having not played the course before.
The welcome was great as were the facilities.
One to visit on your trip to Leeds!

Was looking forward to visiting Moortown and overall had a good day. It was also the first time i've shared a driving range with a tour pro, Danny Willet, who was blasting a few drives down the practice ground.

The clubhouse has a very old school feel and does have an air of 'snobbery' about it, but the staff were all very pleasant and we were made to feel welcome.

The course has a similar heathland feel to it as Alwoodly, just down the road, with the distinctive 'wild' looking bunkers which look great. There was quite a lot of work being done on the course, and a few places looked quite bare where it looks like areas of vegetation had been removed.

The most disappointing thing were the greens. The practice green was pretty poor and unfortunately the greens on the course were only slightly better. They rolled reasonably true but didn't look smooth and had lots of discolouration.

Having said that, I would return and give it a second chance, as the layout and challenge was excellent.

Visited 9th April on another glorious Spring day in Leeds.

We found the course, and particularly the greens, to be in excellent condition so early in the year.

Over the years, the appearance of the course has changed somewhat as many trees have been removed, but it remains a tough challenge, particularly playing off whites, as we were. Some of the areas between fairways where re-planting had taken placed were deemed GUR.

At over 6700 yards with only 3 par 5s, there are many long par 4s to be negotiated, and playing to your handicap is a fine achievement.

Well worth a visit to the area as there are also several other excellent courses close by.

An excellent track close to Leeds in a nice part of town.

This course is of a lovely standard with some great holes, some of which a very tough test. Greens are good, bunkers also good with some unusual style sand.

Had lunch in the clubhouse which was lovely only they had no coverage of the ryder cup on which we thought odd.

Would play again as a good course, sadly would look for a deal next time as green fees are over priced by quite a sum!

Excellent golf course all year round, a bit Barron compared to the wonderful colours in the summer months.

However, greens still rolling true and ground underfoot was still firm. I thought the green fee was very reasonable for such a top class venue.

Tremendous course with very punishing rough for those who like me are occasionally prone to spray it about a bit! The heather and gorse give a very linksy feel to the course but the grasses and trees make it a very heathland even parkland course too. Beautifully manicured greens and fairways with some superbly shaped and placed bunkers both in fairways and around greens. A real pleasure to play and one I look forward to visiting again!
The female caterer we met before our round was friendly, courteous and helpful. Sadly the male barman left to serve our post round drinks was not.
