A very nice course to play, has a great variety of holes that require good placement from the tee. The greens were in good condition for the time of year as was the course as a whole.

If you are visiting Edinburgh this is a great option for a game as it is so close to the city.

I would recommend to any level of golfer.

Have played at Prestonfield half a dozen or so times over the last few years. It's got some really quirky holes - eg a par 4 with a severe 90 degree left turn at about 180 yards, high trees at the corner mean that the direct approach is only for the most confident. It's about as close to central Edinburgh as golf courses come but has a really good rural feel; being located close to Holyrood Park. Requires a good variety of shot shaping and the greens are as good as any in Edinburgh in the high summer. Can get a bit soft in the autumn and winter but it's Edinburgh (!) that's to be expected. Definitely worth a visit if your at a lose end in Edinburgh and don't want to venture far from the town.
