A fantastic course with good twilight green fee rates, I was paired up with another visitor and we were allowed to play off the whites, the course has a lovely mix of holes and the Par 3’s are splendid, I really enjoyed the short 5th ‘Tiddler’, a wonderful little Par 3. If this course had a little more length and was more accessible to the main roads this would be a great Open venue. My only regret was not being able to play the West course – maybe next time?

Made my first visit to Saunton last week, and played both the West and East courses on successive days.

What an absolute treat. If you are a fan of links golf, then you really should get down to Saunton (near Barnstaple) and enjoy two of the finest links courses in the UK. Both appear in the UK "Top 100" lists.

The West course is slightly the easier, but there are plenty of changes of elevation, dunes, ditches and bunkers to keep you on your toes. The East is certainly harder to score on, with only two Par 5s and the three Par 3s. You will find quite a number of long demanding Par 4s there.

The greens on both courses were first class, rolling straight and true, but with plenty of subtle slopes and breaks to make them a challenge.

From the clubhouse area, you look out over the whole 36 hole terrain, and it is an uplifting sight for golf fans - true links terrain as far as the eye can see.

I will certainly return to this outstanding golf club in the near future, and would highly recommend both courses to all lovers of links golf.

This course is well renowned in golfing circles and has a lot of history with Open Qualifying. It really is top class links golf and an amazing set up.

You can play all year around as the course is always dry, probably a little easier this time of year as the fairways are slightly softer and the ball does not roll for miles. Plenty of bunkers, fast greens and lots of undulations.

A bit pricey as a visitor but you get what you pay for in life.
