This is without doubt one of the best courses that I have played in the UK. The fairways are in good condition, the rough is brutal and the greens are magnificent. A warm welcome is always given to visitors and the catering is excellent. It helps if you play this course when it it 20C+ and there is no rain!

Well worth playing if you like links golf.

Friendly reception from staff.

Really fun in the wind.

We included it on a trip to Scotland and played along with other nearby courses.

Amazing views and amazing weather. Add to that a great cause and a top day was had by all.
Loved the layout, hardly saw another group out there with no fairways running side by side.
Must be a hard course in the wind!
Can't wait to go back one day

This was a society visit on 1st July, booked via Cairndale Lodge in Dumfries.
It is a lovely course that is well kept with firm true greens. It's not very long, but there are a number of tough par 4s which will test anyone.
The fairways are generous, but there are plenty of bunkers, whins, heather and gorse, so anyone with directional problems is advised to bring plenty of balls.
It's not too hard to find the fairways but then the problems start. Most of the greens are raised and on the small side and there are lots of slopes and gullies where the you can be left with a tricky shot.
Special mention must be made of the 12th green with its magnificent views. The clubhouse staff are friendly and helpful and the food is OK.
Thankfully we played on a calm day. The site is very open so the wind would cause a lot of trouble.

I doubt you will find a better value for money course anywhere within the UK. Get a golf pass through the tourist board and be sure not to miss this one. The greens, the views, the atmosphere, the course layout all amazing..........its an isolated course hence why its not to well known but I cannot praise this place enough..........i will be going back again and again and again
