Warrington Golf Club is tucked away south of the town centre and the first impression of the club as you drive into the car park is that it is a beautifully undulating course that’s well presented and has a real ‘premium’ feel to it. The clubhouse is grand and impressive and has a lovely sun terrace that looks over the 18th green. The practice and warm up facilities are superb and are beautifully kept – and this tends to be the theme throughout a visit to this club.

The course is traditional parkland but its undulations and contours make it a real standout from anything ‘traditional’. There are some superb views from the highest points on the course with the highlight being the 7thtee which has a massively elevated tee that you can really ‘open your shoulders’ on and unleash the big stick and see just how close to the green you can get some 320 yards away. Plenty of the holes require a little bit more than brute force, with the 2nd and 3rd being prime examples early on of during the round. Both doglegging right and rewarding accuracy rather than distance. It is a course that requires thought and imagination as much as power; and accuracy is most definitely what will win the day. During the visit we were informed that a new course manager has insisted that it be presented to Championship standards every single day, and I must be honest, it was absolutely pristine during our round. Every fairway was well defined and had been rolled with eye catching lines that don’t do much for your golf per se, but leave a positive impression that makes you want to do well and leave your mark on a great course. The rough was fluffy and was a fair punishment if you went in it, and it wasn't a course that would see higher handicappers haemorrhaging balls. The tee boxes were huge and were extremely flat and were a joy to play from. A lot of courses don’t go to much effort on the tee boxes, but Warrington’s were comparable to those we’ve played at places such as The Belfry and Gleneagles, whereby they are cut beautifully into the landscape. The greens were pretty much faultless and went some way to the clubs claim of having the best in the area. They were true and smooth and the pace was consistent throughout. The fringes and canopies of the greens are an absolute joy and would not look out of place at any premium course – with one of our members commenting, “they’re that good, they look false. Like AstroTurf”.

The value for our day out was superb – at £29 per man [and that included tea/coffee and a bacon roll] and we understand that the Cheshire Matchplay Championships are being played here imminently. The prices in the clubhouse were equally as competitive with a pint costing less than £3.50 and burger and chips coming in below £5. The staff in the clubhouse and pro shop couldn't have been more welcoming and the general manager came out for a chat with the group and made us feel welcome and listened to our thoughts and feedback. Any course that’s willing to interact like that with visitors deserves praise. In conclusion, Warrington Golf Club has undoubtedly been a highlight of the early part of 2015 for our society and comments from our members would suggest that its one of the best local courses we have visited [and that speaks volumes when you consider some of the places we go to]. It offers everything you need and want from a club and it is undoubtedly somewhere we would love to continue going back to year-on-year and to build a strong and lasting partnership. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it highly.

This is always one the bunkers crew love coming back to year after year, course is always in stunning condition and the hospitality even more so. We always receive a very warm welcome from WGC. The course was as usual in magnificent condition along with the greens. I would without doubt highly recommend this course. Superb quality and a great test of golf.

Played here with the Swingers Golf Society on friday 22nd June. This has got to be one of the best courses in the northwest. This course is a must for all golfers and a must for society golfers. As well as the weather being fantastic, the course was in great form and all the work the club have done from our last visit has really paid off to make the course even more enjoyable. This is a course which will be on our calendar for the foreseeable future. All the staff and members of the club are very welcoming from start to finish. Will be in touch soon to book for next year.

The course was in a great condition for our return visit to this Club. The hospitality of the bar & catering staff was exceptional and the grub was great value for money. Once out on the course, the fairways and greens were set up great with some difficult placed pin positions. Would recommend a round here for any golfer who is looking for a medium challenge!!

We took Bunkers Golf Society back to Warrington Golf Club for another year - and to be honest, its an absolute stalwart on our calendar and will continue to be so.

As always the welcome was warm and friendly and we enjoyed pre round soup and sandwiches which were tasty and plentiful.

The course was presented beautifully [as always] with manicured tee boxes, fairways and green aprons. In the last few years, Warrington have simply just kept improving and are now able to boast a beautiful course whereby they just need to make subtle but impressive improvements each season. This year was the introduction of new tee box approaches/steps and signage for several holes and tidying up of some overgrown areas. The result, a even better looking venue. Paying attention to the small details makes it clear that the course is doing all it can to offer a pristine venue for its members and guests.
Its genuinely hard to fault the place.

The greens were absolutely immaculate and were some of the finest we have played on in recent years. Smooth, quick and true....barely a blemish on them. The aprons and surrounds were a joy too and were as good as the greens on some other courses!

In summary, Warrington remains one of our favourite venues to visit for a number of reasons - but primarily, because they just do pretty much everything right!. We have no hesitation in recommending the club to any golfer and can guarantee we will continue to keep returning.

This was my first time playing at Warrington Golf Club and after hearing nothing but praise about the course, I was eagerly awaiting this one on our calendar.

I played the course with bunkers golf society and it lived up to every hype. The clubhouse is very well presented and welcoming with the staff bringing a high standard and warm greeting. For guests visiting a private club that is very much appreciated.

The pro shop was well equipped with everything you could possibly ever need from a rental battery for those who forget their trolley battery to ball markers, again with a very warm welcome and very chatty staff who are happy to help.

Practice facilty was to a very high standard. The practice greens both giving a very true representation of on course conditions of the greens. Two very good practice nets for those who wanted to warm up.

The course was in exceptional condition I can quite happily say it's the best course I have played in 2019 so far. The greens were in prime condition and the balls were sticking to them like glue when approaching from short or from distance. They ran very true, very fast and took a lot of reading a real challenge. The fairways and tee boxes were also in prime condition and every fine detail was taken into account. The bunkers are well stocked and can tell are maintained to the highest of standards!

All in all an absolute gem of a course with some outstanding views along the way as well as a tough test for any golfer.

Would highly recommend and most certainly will be taking another visit sometime this year!

Met in clubhouse soup and sandwiches before we started our round catering was great.
The course is parkland and in fantastic condition very well presented and a credit to the head green keeper and his staff.
The tee boxes are in fantastic condition and well manicured as are the fairways the greens rolled perfectly. The night before we played it had rained all night and there wasn’t a single puddle on the course.
I would recommend this course to any golfer looking for great hospitality a warm welcome by the members and a great golf course.

This course never fails to amaze me. Year on year the staff present this course incredibly well. The fairways are beautifully mown and the greens are some of the best I’ve putted on. It’s a challenging course that requires you to plot your way round. Placing your tee shots is vital for a change to score. Bunkers are consistent throughout the course and have the right amount of sand in. What else can I say other than give it a go. It’s a true gem.

Played Warrington on a windy mid-week afternoon. Took afternoon off work as it's a course that doesn't disappoint and worth the 1/2 day hol. As expected, wasn't disappointed. Greens are excellent, tee's whilst not all level, surface and presentation excellent and far better than my home club. Greens and tees are better than courses that charge a lot lot more. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of playing.

Just wish we could play the course at a weekend with the society. I know our committee keep requesting each year, would be great if Warrington GC could accommodate.

Society day with Bunkers Golf Society, September 2018.
This is a great Parkland course and one of the best in the North West. Superb tee boxes, fairways immaculate and superb greens.
I love the layout of the course, don't really need to take a driver, more of a thinking course rather than reaching for the Big stick every tee, although it can be rewarding to do so.
great value, good practise facilities [green, chipping, nets].

Fantastic course layout with great views of Merseyside and even Manchester. I would say it’s a long course.

What more can I say about Warrington Golf Club that I haven't said several times already in reviews below.

Another fabulous visit that offers everything I want from a golf club. Quality, value for money, friendliness and attention to detail. It ticks literally every box for me.

Its that good, that I would seriously consider joining it and travelling from Liverpool to commit to the club - and I can't pay it a bigger compliment than that.

As a society, our members have voted Warrington in their top 3 favourite courses in each of the last 4 years and therefore we are happy to continue returning. When you consider some of the lovely courses we play over the course of a season, it’s a compliment the clubs should be proud of.

Once again for this visit the course was in immaculate condition. Despite the brutally hot and dry summer the course has held up beautifully and the couple of weeks of recent rain have helped to bring it back to its emerald green best.

The day started with a welcoming cup of tea and coffee and a few breakfast snacks for some of the lad’s courtesy of the friendly catering staff at the club.

We made our way out on to the course and from the off it was clear that it was in pristine condition. Tee boxes were a lush green, rolled beautifully and well tendered. It just sets the tone for what’s to come.

The greens – as always – were the star of the show and once again they putted smoothly and with a true roll. The weather meant that they were accessible on the day and players could attack them if they were confident enough – and in position in the first place!

The course set up was beautiful with attention to detail around the bunker lips where the grass was left to grow to give it a real heathland feel and a wonderful appearance. The sand within them was plentiful and well raked and there were no issues if you were unlucky enough to find yourself having to play out of them.

The course is a good mix of holes with several risk and reward holes that encourage players to attack and other holes where you need to pay them suitable respect. There are some beautiful views to be had, particularly on the elevated tee on the 7th – which is truly something to behold.

Afterwards we enjoyed soup, sandwiches and chips and they went down an absolute storm. The value of the day was once again superb, and the whole experience at Warrington is something that we enjoy year-on-year. Hopefully we can maintain the relationship with the club going forwards.

It’s just a shame that this club is over the Runcorn bridge or I feel it would be home to quite a few of our members on a more permanent basis. One of the finest golfing venues in Cheshire and one we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending to others.

We had our first outing at Warrington gc this week on what turned about to be another bad day with the weather. There was some concern that the day would be a washout but the ground staff did an excellent job to make sure we could get out. Dispute there being a lot of water on the course the greens were in an excellent condition with a true role. The course layout has a mixture of tough and relatively easy holes which always gives you the feeling that there are opportunities to score points. Afterwards the food was great and the beer served cold.
An enjoyable day and a course I’d be happy to return to at any time.
