Welcome to Western Gailes. If you enjoy the challenge of links golf, Western Gailes will test your skills to their limit. Regarded by many as the hidden gem of Scottish links it is a course which we believe should be in every golfer's "must play" list.

The club dates its history back to 1897 and offers the golfer a blend of the traditional and modern. The course presents a fair challenge with very few "blind" shots. The architect has used the natural contours of the land but has also been severe in the placement of bunkers. Major hazards include the beach to the west of the course, the railway line to the east, three burns and a testing breeze off the Firth of Clyde. The course is highly rated in various league tables of worldwide courses. It has frequently been used for final qualifying for the Open at Royal Troon and Turnberry and has hosted the Curtis Cup and eight Scottish Amateur Championships.

But it's not just the course that makes Western Gailes so special. The Clubhouse, which sits above the links with views across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran, Ailsa Craig and beyond, is the perfect place to relax after testing your skills on the course.

We pride ourselves in treating visitors as members of the club during their visit. All connected with the club are pleased to welcome visitors and wish to ensure that they experience a memorable visit.

Great course, greens perfect, some very interesting holes with a few blind shots to make things intersting. Didn't play well or might have enjoyed it even more.

Great golf course for the first round of the Ayrshire Links Cup, golf course is an absolute 'gem', proposer traditional links and as always was in fantastic condition, the welcome and hospitality in the clubhouse was 'first class'.

Whilst the weather was slightly breezy and a few heavy showers it didn't dampen our spirits playing an exceptional golf course.

Fantastic day out. Spirits weren't dampened by the driving range and gusting winds. Course played tough but fair. A true test of links golf. Can't wait to go back and play again.

Played last week in reasonable weather. Great holes but you need to be able to carry the rough to get to the fairways. Best greens I played all year and that was September!. A PROPER golf course let down by limited practice/warm up facilities.

Arrived on the first tee by a gentleman by the name of Henry who was the starter. He certainly was a gentleman. The course was in superb condition, no hole was the same. A very testing course but true and fair. Certainly a course to come back and play again.

Played today in Links Golf Cup day one, this is a real test of golf and it wasn't even windy!!

Fairways, greens are immaculate, we played as part f a weeks comp but I believe the green fee is £135, not sure if I would pay that kind of money but overall a great golf course
