As a European Tour venue, we had a certain level of expectancy but the grand scale and size of the place, plus the quality of everything on offer, really did impress us from the moment we drove into the staffed security gates and made our way through the winding road towards the golf clubhouse. The décor inside and the layout were impressive and the food and drink was excellent and reasonable, given that this is a hotel chain.
Practice facilities were extensive and well kept and the pro shop was large, well stocked and run by friendly staff.

Looking out across the course, its immediately obvious that it is situated within an affluent area of Crewe in Cheshire – with the boundaries peppered with mansion after mansion and the meandering paths between holes giving you opportunity to see the communities that have been built surrounding the course.

As a course, it was an absolute beast. Playing at 6300 off the yellow tees [and 7300 off the championship tees] it certainly is a true test of golf. The course has all types of feel as you make your way around; from parkland to links and with splashes of heathland. You experience all variations in ground undulation with lies above and below the feet as well as down and uphill lies.
Its also one of those courses where you don’t seen many other holes from the one you are playing – which always focuses the mind on the task at hand.

The layout is superb and is clearly designed for championship and professional level golf. Well-placed hazards that are in prime landing areas make club selection a real test. There is a lot of water on the course that obviously plays heavy in the mind of most handicapped golfers, and the bunkers were large and welcoming for any wayward shots.

Prime examples of this are on the 13th and 14th holes where a brook runs across the width of the fairway. On the 13th it is around 240-260 yards and is prime catchment for most drivers. But with the hole playing long, you really do need to be further up the fairway to give yourself a chance of making par otherwise it is a 220+ yard second shot into a tight green.
The 14th sees the same brook at 220 yards and then a 2nd one at 270 yards. With water up the length of the left hand side, the landing area with a 3 wood is pretty small and then you attack a slightly elevated green that is narrow from front to back.

The course condition in general was exceptional – especially after some torrential weather the day before [however, we were lucky to have a dry day with the odd sprinkle of sun]
We were advised pre round that the greenside bunkers at 9 and 10 were under repair due to the rainfall and this was appreciated in advance.

The bunkers generally were well stocked and raked and were good to play from. The fairways were soft and spongy and offered an ideal platform to attack greens. The tee boxes were all level, and well kept and signage around the course was clear and needed to be as the day saw us walk over 7 miles!

The greens were the star of the show with them being receptive and slick. They rolled true and had some superb multi levels and subtle breaks – they were just a joy to plan on.

In summary, Wychwood Park was an all around great day out. It was a heck of a walk [both on the course and between holes] but everything about the place was classy and well looked after and we would recommend visiting for any keen golfer.

We played this course on 26/8/17 with swingers golf society. what an amazing course it was to play, with some very challenging holes with plenty of hazards to make you think about your game. I found that I had to play to the course to avoid it's dangers. greens and course where in tip top condition. the staff where very welcoming and friendly too. would recommend this course very highly. it's a very long course and still had plenty in the tank to walk up the hill off the 18 and enjoy a refreshing beverage

Played here with swingers golf society on the 26/8/17 and apart from a dreadful round personally, everything about the golf club was brilliant, slick true greens. Lovely fairways. Great course layout with plenty of danger to avoid(I didn't) the staff welcomed us with open arms and I would definitely recommend this course. Certainly worth the 2 hour journey

I played this course with the Swingers Golf Society over the weekend. The weather was tremendous no wind and dry all day which is always a bonus. The facilities within the club are exceptional; great putting green and driving range. The actual course was in great condition, the fairways were tight, however, i enjoyed choosing the appropriate club to take on each hole. The greens were running true and stayed pretty fast throughout the day. Finally, the scenic views throughout the course are terrific. I would highly recommend this course and will most definitely be coming back.

What a course to play our last major of the year at. The greens where the best i have played on all year and the course was in fantastic shape. The greeter on the 1st tee gives you some great advice on how to play the course. The staff was very welcoming from start to finish. And to top the day off the sun was out all day which makes it that bit extra special.

A very good day at a top class course. From our welcome through to the info given on the first tee, the hospitality was great. Course was in great nick and the greens were challenging yet true. If you tend to tire a buggy would be recommended as the holes are quite spread out and an average round can take as long as 5 hours. I certainly felt I deserved my pint in the club house.

Another great day out with the swingers Golf society and what a great course.
The course was in great conditions and the greens were difficult. If you go in the rough you could find it difficult to find your ball and not many went round with the same ball.
The course is definitely up there with the best we played this year and would be a close call between here and Lancaster golf course .

Played with the swingers golf society 26/08/17. The course is in great condition and the greens where very true and quite fast! Tees, fairways, approaches all tidy. Bunkers where all raked aswell! I liked the layout of the course and personally think it's a tough course to play (challenging). I would recommend a buggy if playing as it's a very long course with the tee's spread out from the greens. Clubhouse one of the best I've visited with a fantastic view on the terrace of the 18th. Would definitely play again!

You will need at least 5 hours to go around this course even when it isn't busy, fairways and greens are kept in excellent condition. We stopped over night so played the course twice which was extremely enjoyable. Its a tough course with plenty of hazards and some very testing holes.
The hotel was excellent and the food was fantastic I would highly recommend this course to anyone!

You really can't fault anything at Wychwood Park Golf Club, from the moment you arrive at the Pro shop which is friendly and informative, you are instantly made to feel like a full member for the day and not simply a paying guest.

The course is superbly laid out and you can see that great care is taken in its daily preparation by the greens staff.

From the clear definition down the fairways, the manicured areas around the practice putting green and the slick, fast and true greens, its clear that everyone at Wychwood Park Golf Club takes great pride in its upkeep. No loose or fallen branches or even tree debris is found between the many beautiful tree lined fairways when your ball doesn't exactly go where you meant it to!

If you believe that going off the yellows will give you an easier experience you'd be wrong, the 1st off the yellow stones makes it a very tough start with blind greens.

There is a bit of everything for the golfer who wants to take on this course, some long tricky par 5's, some very testing par 3's and you have some nice dogleg drives to suit all shot shapes and then there's the water that comes into play also, so Wychwood Park Golf Club clearly has something for everyone of all abilities.

The changing rooms and showers are spacious and well laid out and towels are supplied if you've rushed out and forgot yours!

Overall the experience of arriving, playing and then relaxing doesn't get any better anywhere else.

Played here as part of Bunkers Golf Society recently as part of the calendar roster. I was very excited about playing this course and made sure I was free on the day to attend the society day and experience this European Tour course just to give me some insight as to what challenges the pros go through weekly.

I wasn't disappointed, it was a beautiful August day luckily which made things all the better but on arrival you get the sense of class that you want to feel when you drive into a highly regarded course and clubhouse. From the staff to the bacon sandwiches to start the day off it added a really nice touch, the bar area and facilities are great as you'd expect. But it's when you get onto the practice green you start to feel that you're part of a special place. The only thing I would say is there should be more practice nets. There is a driving range but when you have 15 minutes to your tee time and you're not going to smash 50 balls down the range in time a net is a good way to loosen up and having the one net by the practice green it got a bit busy and I'm blaming my first hole jitters on the fact...definitely not my golf swing!

First hole is a really nice ice breaker before the rest of the course tries to swallow you up and spit you out. It's a great challenge from the first to the last and really makes you think the whole way around. Hazards are carefully placed for long hitters and the average golfer which makes club selection and more importantly shot selection key on each hole.

The greens are some of the best I've played on in my short amateur golfing career, very true and quick. You have to do a 360 around the hole prior to making your putt as there are lumps and bumps in places that you don't expect if you're looking at the putt from head on. It drives you wild but ultimately that's what putting is about so you only have yourself to blame if you're not doing it properly...like myself. They were a joy to putt on though and something I expect of any other top course that I visit. Benchmark has been set!

All in all, this is a great course with fantastic facilities and I would highly recommend it to any golfer. Looking forward to returning sooner rather than later. I would like to play here in the winter to see how the course holds out in a good old British winter.

Played this course on a great summers day, perfect conditions. The staff in the pro shop very welcoming and good information passed on regarding course. Bar staff very friendly and accommodating to our society. Bacon and coffe pre round was good.
The course is one of my favourites in this area. It suits the thinker with hazards just in that awkward yardage .... Iron or driver. Great condition of fairways and All greens very true with some interesting putts... Par 3 14th don't go long !
    Bunkers where we'll maintained.
Good practise facilities with large putting green and practise area.
I used course planner but found some holes/hazards not in book but overall very useful
I would recommend this course as a must play.

Played here with Bunkers Golf Society on 20th August 2015.
What a superb venue and a wonderful course.

The layout is very interesting with plenty of variation and lots of cleverly placed hazards that just want to gobble up your golf ball. Club choice is key to plot your way around the course and leave you chances of walking away with decent scores.

The course is long and intimidating, but if played right can be one that you walk off smiling from.

The greens were slick and smooth and had lots of testing breaks on them. They could equally punish as well as reward but were extremely fair and if you got the speed of them quickly you could putt with confidence that the ball would hold its line.

The fairways, bunkers and tee boxes were all in great condition and the general course condition was superb.

The set up, facilities and practice areas are all impressive and its clear why this is a Euro Tour venue. The prices were also not too bad given that it is a hotel resort and in comparison to some others we've visited in 2015, it was decent in terms of value.

Its definitely a course I will be recommending to friends and would have no hesitation in telling fellow golfers to get down there for 'a knock'

Played here with bunkers golf society 20/8/15.

First time playing here and i must say the set up is everything you would expect from a resort course with a driving range and pitching area along with a putting green that was true to the pace of the greens on the course.
I must say this is one of if not the most challenging courses i have played, apart from maybe 2 par 3's you stand on each tee needing to land the ball a certain yardage so you dont go in the vast amounts of water or the excellently placed bunkers. It is a stunning course and very well maintained with some great views. To score well you really need to find the fairway as there is no chance of getting a full club distance out of the rough as it is quite punishing.
The greens were good but they had the feeling that they could be quicker if they had been cut, this must have been due to the rain we have had.
A very good but very challenging course.

We played this on a windy day in October. Some of the tees were well back and there were some long carries off the tee. The greens
were in the middle of the maintenance period so they were a bit below par. Most of the fairways were good, considering the course is a recent design. A lot of the greens have dead ground or false fronts on them, so it is essential to fly approaches right into them. It is about 7200 yards off the back tees, so it is not a test for the casual golfer.
The hotel and food are very good, and at £89 for 2 days it is value for money.
If more was done to shorten the walk between the tees and greens and there was more attention to detail, this could be a great venue.
